Developed by Canadian studio Beenox, CTR Nitro-Fueled is a remaster of Naughty Dog’s 1999 PlayStation classic Crash Team Racing. It launched in June 2019 to immensely positive reviews, as underlined by its “Strong” rating on OpenCritic, derived from an average score of 83 and a 90% recommendation rate. Rumor: Xbox Game Pass May Be Adding Another Beloved Platformer Soon
Some newly surfaced evidence suggests that yet another beloved platformer may be coming to Xbox Game Pass in the near future.
Five and a half years following its original debut, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled has made its way to Xbox Game Pass, reaching Microsoft’s subscription service in the early morning hours ET on December 4. This release is exclusively available to Xbox One and Series X/S users, as the game was never ported to PC. While some console exclusives like Halo 5: Guardians are available to PC gamers with an Xbox Game Pass subscription via Xbox Cloud Gaming, CTR Nitro-Fueled hasn’t been given the same treatment—yet.
CTR Nitro-Fueled Is Also Available on XGP Core Starting Today
Since it’s not a day-one release, the 2019 kart racer has now been added to both the XGP Standard and Ultimate libraries simultaneously. Additionally, it even made its way to the Xbox Game Pass Core catalog, which isn’t updated nearly as often as the other tiers of the service. Apart from CTR Nitro-Fueled, XGP Core has also received DayZ and the original Goat Simulator as part of its December 4 library update. Goat Simulator is a bit of a weird addition because it was just pulled from the other XGP tiers in November 2024, shortly after its remaster was added to them. However, rather than being an unprecedented XGP Core exclusive, the 2014 Goat Simulator is now listed as once again being available across all Xbox Game Pass tiers.

In addition to CTR Nitro-Fueled, the December 4 XGP catalog update introduces three more titles to the Standard-tier library: Forza Motorsport, Hauntii, and Humanity. All of these were previously available to non-Ultimate subscribers until Microsoft revamped its subscription tiers over the summer, when they were pulled for new XGP Standard members.
At least four more games are set to reach Microsoft’s subscription service before the end of December 2024. Xbox Game Pass is also losing 13 games this month, starting with Forza Horizon 4 and six other titles on December 15.
