The Veilguard Character Creator Released For Dragon Age Day

The Veilguard Character Creator Released For Dragon Age Day

Key Takeaways

  • December 4 is Dragon Age Day.
  • BioWare is releasing a standalone character creator and Hawke-inspired armour.
  • Patch 4 is also set to release later today.

Just as November 7 is N7 Day, an annual celebration of Mass Effect; December 4 is Dragon Age Day. As it turns out, both of BioWare’s annual celebrations ended up being Dragon Age-y this year.

BioWare isn’t holding back with this year’s Dragon Age Day, with the highlight being the release of a free standalone character creator. You’ll now be able to create unique Rooks outside of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, with the option to import your creations into the full game if you so wish. This character creator will be available on every platform that Dragon Age: The Veilguard is on.

Also being added is cosmetic armour inspired by Dragon Age 2’s Hawke, complete with their iconic blood smear. The armour is modelled on a mage Hawke’s appearance in Dragon Age 2’s prologue. In other words, the armour that Hawke wears in trailers and promotional material. As with the N7-inspired armour, you’ll be able to get this new offering from a chest in the Lighthouse after the main quest “The Singing Blade” has been completed.

Dragon Age Day will also bring us an infographic featuring player choice data, an ‘ask me anything’ (AMA) with the game’s developers on Reddit and a special stream from breebunn, a creator notable for spending 21 hours creating her Rook before beginning Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The stream will begin at 9.30 am PST / 12.30 pm ET and the AMA is at noon PST / 3 pm ET.

The blog post teased the player choice infographic, revealing that 22 per cent of players sent D’Meta’s Crossing’s mayor to the Grey Wardens, 36 per cent saved the mayor and 42 per cent left him to die.

The full blog post also references Patch 4, but the full patch notes aren’t yet available. The previous three patches have generally just addressed minor bugs, so we can probably expect the same with Patch 3. The last patch stopped my Rook from infinitely drowning in puddles of water in Arlathan Forest, which I greatly appreciate.

Dragon Age Day has commenced, with Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s fourth patch set to arrive later.
