Five more Marvel Rivals heroes have just been surprise revealed

The Marvel Rivals launch trailer is here, and it comes packed with some incredibly surprising reveals. NetEase Games has shown off five more comic book heroes coming to the Overwatch competitor, with some fan favorites among those we’ll be playing in the free-to-play game very shortly. The hype is building, and I for one can’t wait to jump in incredibly soon.

Now that the Marvel Rivals release date is mere days away, developer NetEase Games has decided to drop one final surprise on us by rounding out the roster. That’s right, another five heroes have been added to the Marvel Rivals character list (well, technically six), bringing the total number of playable characters to 33 so far. Best of all, we already know that every single hero in the multiplayer game will be available for free.

So if you think there’s been a distinct lack of a short, hairy Canadian man calling everyone “bub” any chance he gets, then this is the Marvel Rivals trailer for you.

New Marvel Rivals characters revealed

According to the new Marvel Rivals launch trailer, the next five announced characters are as follows.

  • Iron Fist
  • Black Widow
  • Cloak and Dagger
  • Squirrel Girl
  • Wolverine

As of right now, it’s unclear what role – either Vanguard, Duelist, or Strategist – any of these five characters will be or how they’ll play, but I assume we’ll find out more once the game fully launches. It looks like Cloak and Dagger will play as one hero, as the trailer only ever shows the both of them acting as one.

By far the best moment in the trailer comes towards the end when Wolverine and Hulk team up for the always-iconic fastball special, with Wolverine being flung through the air at high speeds. I’d imagine this is one of Wolverine’s team-up moves, which is a Marvel Rivals feature that has specific heroes work together for special attacks. Rocket Raccoon can jump on Groot’s shoulder and shoot enemies from an elevated position, for example.

If you can’t wait for release we’ve also put together everything we know about the Marvel Rivals Season 1 launch, alongside potential Marvel Rivals events that could drop after the game is out.
