The Diablo series is rich in world-building and knowledge. While the history of many games is riddled with wars, the exploitation of heroes with immoral influence, and nations’ rise and fall, Diablo 4 takes significant steps toward integrating the full scope of its narrative.

Diablo 4: Every Mythic Unique, Ranked
Mythic Uniques are some of the strongest items in Diablo 4, but which one is the best?
Even though much is expected from Diablo 4, it only addresses some things while still focusing on its core story. As a result, there are a few unanswered questions after the end of the series. Some characters have future roles in the Sanctuary, while others need to answer questions about their past whereabouts.
10 How Did Inarius Manage To Escape Mephisto’s Domain?
Inarius’ escape from Mephisto’s domain is one of the most pressing questions the game asks. You can’t suggest Inarius broke through as Mephisto was weakened, and it’s not the first time Mephisto has been banished from his domain or weakened.
Constant hand waves on this during the games leads to an assumption that you’ll find an answer. However, more information on how Inarius escaped the domain remains a mystery, which results in speculations on what happened.
Key Unanswered Questions
- Did Might grant him a blessing?
- Or did Mephisto’s defense wane?
There is no further explanation.
9 How Was Lilith Brought Back To The Sanctuary?
What means did they use to bring Lilith back to the Sanctuary? Was it just like her husband? And how easily can you get there from the magic prison pit? That’s unbeknown to Inarius, too, as he was in an actual jail. While “he broke out” is a reasonable answer, it’s not that simple.
Lingering Mysteries
- Lilith was expelled into the void, a place said to be impossible to break out of, but she has done it twice.
- Diablo 4 doesn’t disclose that beings can create waypoints from Heaven and Hell to the Sanctuary.
If it’s easy to break out of this void, like being summoned, it’s not a worthy prison.
It’s like the main antagonists came back to a super-jail from millennia without the proper explanation that’s needed in the series.
8 Which Characters Are Considered Canon?
Regarding canonizing characters, who are Diablo 4’s main characters? The series has five playable classes, each with a different story.
It would be something different for the sanctuary people if the Druid tribes or Rathma’s child saved them.

With different questions being asked, every sequel has a playable class in which they work together in their quests. Unfortunately, we won’t understand until we know the sequel.
7 What Are The Angels Doing?
There are no angels in Diablo 4, which is a win for Inarius. Even though it feels strange, this doesn’t feel good for the series on the Sanctuary’s reconstruction.
Unresolved Concerns
- Are there no angels concerned about Lilith’s return or Inarius’s breakout?
- Where is Tyrael?
Tyrael was mortal during the end of Diablo 3, but no one knows if he will reincarnate after dying like any other angel.
He’s also the only angel that retained his identity after rebirth. Can that happen twice?
6 What’s The Number Of Reformed Evils?
The seven evils are here again in Diablo 4, and the Reaper of Souls puts them into the world for more temptations, but it’s unclear to what extent.
Points Of Confusion
- While the Strongest Prime Evil is in the reforming process, his weaker sibling has transformed and is back at the Sanctuary. It may take a long time to reform as he’s the strongest and has more goop to reconstruct.
- The other five evils need to be mentioned, making it unclear whether they are also reformed.
What about Baal and Diablo? Are they alive or dead? There should be information on the same.
5 Is This The End Of The Leoric Family?
It’s surprising, but the Leoric family has been involved in the games since Diablo, and it would have been reasonable to say they were also involved in Diablo 4. But it seems the family finally took a rest. It’s such a dismal realization as it means bidding the main character goodbye.
The Legacy Of The Leoric Family
Originally, Diablo’s warrior was nameless. However, he was glorified to the level of main character in Diablo 2, while he became King Leoric’s son in Diablo 3.
4 What Are The Chances Of Horadrim Surviving?
Horadrim’s fate is revealed at the end of the series instead of being showcased throughout the series. Only two members remain, and there is the potential for a new one.
The Downfall Of The Horadrim
- Ultimately, Neyrelle abolishes her path, Lorath walks away with a simple nod, and Donan is dead.
- Since Tyrael stopped leading before Diablo 1, the Horadrim have been constantly declining, becoming a mere shadow of their former glory.

When Deckard Cain was Horadrim’s last, he had some vitality. However, Lorath lost his first student to madness and the second one for reasons unbeknown to him. He isn’t doing well, and sadly, their orders may soon come to an end.
3 Where Is Neyrelle?
Neyrelle’s decision at the end of the game to depart with Mephisto’s soul stone is Diablo’s next story getaway. She imitates the actions of the Dark Wanderer and his journey to the east.
Traveling with a hateful soul isn’t healthy, and Neyrelle has exposed herself to immediate danger. She may need to find out where she’s heading. Besides, she’s living in isolation and chances are that Mephisto has control over her. She also appears to be traveling to the West. What’s there for her on the other side?
2 What’s Going On In The Western Continent?
Like any other fantastic fantasy series, Diablo 4 has a map with two significant continents. The games also happen all over the continents. Unlike Diablo 1, set in Tristram, Diablo 2 and 3 span the entire globe. While Diablo 4 relegates to the right continent’s upper half.
Questions About the Other Half Of The Map
- What about the other half of the continent with some significant political figures?
- An apocalypse went down; does Westmarch know what happened?
1 What Was Nephalem’s Fate?
Of all the matters left unattended, the fate of Nephalem in Diablo 3 might be the deepest. The Nephalem are angels and demons’ god-like super children.
The Nephalem’s Unanswered Story Arc
- At the end of Diablo 3, Tyrael reckons Nephalem is stronger than the combination of Heaven and Hell, yet their story is incomplete.
- Worst of all, the heroes of Diablo 3 took part in the adventuring party, which Diablo-sequel-story etiquette established.
It makes you question whether five Nephalem were roaming around or could have just disappeared.
