The following contains spoilers for From Season 3’s Season Finale
Key Takeaways
- The Season 3 finale of From tied up some loose ends but left more questions unanswered.
- Fatima was not pregnant but birthing a smiling monster that was killed in Season 2.
- Tabitha and Jade refused to sacrifice their children and are cursed to return to Fromville and forget.
Never let it be said that From doesn’t offer its MGM+ audience some absolutely wild action from one episode to the next. And the best thing about the From Season 3 finale is that while the season as a whole just seemed to pile one question on top of the pile of questions the show had already created, the finale went a long way in tying up at least some of the loose ends.
No, the audience, nor are the denizens of Fromville any closer to getting answers on just where they are, how they really got there or how they can get home. But just why the nightly hauntings by the monsters that live in the woods happen have finally, at least to some degree been revealed. So has the reason those creepy kids who keep telling anyone who will (and can) listen, “anghkooey” keep saying that nonsense word, as well as their origin and why they look like that. Why only some people can see them was also revealed. Because this is From, there are still many more questions to go, but at least there will be at least one more season to try and get those answers.

What Happens In From Season 3?
Throughout the entirety of From Season 3, things went from bad to worse. In Seasons 1 and 2 it felt like there was a kind of uneasy peace established by the people who lived in the mystery town. Certainly, like wasn’t good and people weren’t happy to be there, but the rules of this particular nightmareland seemed to have been set and everyone and everything were following those rules. However, some of the members of Fromville were still trying to upset the apple cart in order to try and escape and whoever is in charge wasn’t happy.
The weather began to change and get colder for the first time in the memory of many of the residents and food started to become scarce. The monstrosities that prowled Fromville were also no longer content to simply wander out of the woods once the sun went down and waited for the most foolish among the townspeople to get caught outside at the same time. One of the first ways this showed up is when the monsters released the farm animals the Fromville denizens had managed to stockpile in barns, so that those animals would wander the town and force the townspeople to go out and try and corral them.

The plot eventually led to several members of Fromville getting killed including Mrs. Chen who was tortured to death in front of Boyd. At the time of this torture was going on, one of the monsters made it clear that they had accepted Boyd’s challenge from the season before when he declared that he couldn’t be broken. In fact, the rest of the season focused around the idea that From‘s goal was now to be as scary as possible a place to live while specifically trying to break Boyd.
Meanwhile, Tabitha managed to escape from the town using a Faraway Tree but soon found herself returning alongside a police officer and ambulance crew and Victor’s father. After arriving, the ambulance crew was killed and only Victor’s father and the officer, and Tabitha survived.
The same people who created Lost worked on From and it shows with one mystery after another including what was going on with Fatima’s “baby,” why could only certain people (Fatima and Jade most notably) see the anghkooey kids, and who was Elgin seeing and talking to in the form of the seemingly mummified woman?
How From Season 3 Ended
Things really came to a head in the From season finale and it’s lucky the MGM+ show is getting another season because while answers arrived, more questions followed. It turns out that Fatima wasn’t pregnant with a baby but was instead birthing the same smiling monster that was killed in Season 2. It was explained to the townsfolk that these monsters were once people who had sacrificed their children in order to achieve immortality. Those children were in fact the ones who kept showing up and saying anghkooey.
Thanks to a song played on a violin by Jade, he and Tabitha got their memories back and it turns out that when this all started, they were the only parents who refused to sacrifice their kids and because of that, they’re doomed to keep coming back to Fromville and forget what happened there. Tabitha tells him that anghkooey means “remember,” though in what language isn’t explained.
Tabitha and Jade both become trapped in the Town on the same day in

season 1, episode 1.
As Tabitha and Jim are both reeling from this news in their own prospective corners of Fromville, a man dressed in a very dirty and very worn yellow sport coat emerges from the forest in broad daylight. Just before he engages with Jim, a clearly frantic Julie pops into the opening having just learned that she can “walk between the stories” which means she can time travel. The drawback is that while she can go and see any time in this place, she can’t change anything.
Her inability to use her newfound power is demonstrated immediately when she tells her dad to run, but instead Jim stays and challenges the man in yellow because he wants to protect his daughter, who has a scratch on her face. Unfortunately for Jim, the man in yellow seems to be similar to the smiling monsters as he’s able to quickly and easily shrug off Jim and Julie’s attack before grabbing Jim by the throat, telling him he never should have allowed Tabitha to dig the hole in the ground that occurred in Season 1 and then proceeds to rip Jim’s throat out as Julie watches, horrified.
With plenty of mysteries still to be solved in From Season 4, it’s clear that the rules and the players have changed dramatically.
