Co-op space roguelike Void Crew gets giant 1.0 update, and it’s also on sale

Everyone needs colleagues they can rely on under pressure. Whether sitting at a desk or on the battlefield, knowing you can trust the person beside you makes the job much easier. In Void Crew‘s case, that job just so happens to be piloting a spaceship between asteroids and giant space monsters, so let’s hope your workmates don’t slouch. With roguelike replayability, the space combat of Starfield, and the online cosmos of No Man’s Sky, Void Crew 1.0 is finally here, making now the best time to round up some friends and give it a try.

Void Crew is a roguelike game that’s all about organization. Not only are you hurtling through space, upgrading your ship, and facing untold cosmic horrors, but you’ve also got to face the biggest problem of all: other people’s work ethics. You and your crew split duties between piloting the ship, manning the turrets, doing emergency repairs, and fabricating whatever resources you need on the fly. If anyone starts slacking, that’s bad news for everyone – hopefully you get on well with your friends.

As for Void Crew’s 1.0 update, it’s absolutely stacked with new features. You now have two new objectives – Infestation and Desecration – with one testing your squad’s speed, while the other leaves you exposed and forces you to decide what upgrades you need the most.

The Fabricator, which your crew uses to turn scavenged materials into essential equipment, has also been improved. You can now upgrade it for faster operation and access to more builds, and blueprints can be created by recycling items. You’ll need all the extra help you can get as well, because the new Hollow Firemorph and Electromorph enemies will present you with some tough challenges. The Firemorph shoots homing missiles at your ship that erupt into heat fields, while the Electromorph can drain your Ectype spacecraft’s power if it gets too close.

Developer Hutlihut Games has also completely revamped Void Crew’s perk tree system, so you and your team now have even more character build options for your runs. You can select new perks, use superior versions of all the class abilities, and even put together perk selection loadouts to save yourself some time.

And that’s not all, as Hultihut incorporates new challenges and cosmetics into Void Crew 1.0, so you can complete your achievements and get a whole new look. There are also daily and weekly challenges for some high-rarity rewards, giving you and your friends plenty of reasons to dip back into Void Crew regularly.

1.0 isn’t the the only recent update for Void Crew either. A Steam update from a few months ago also added new bosses, relics, and even upscaling technology support.

Void Crew 1.0 is out now, and you can get the game at 20% off until Wednesday December 4 so expect to pay $19.99 / £17.59 until then. You can find the game on Steam right here.
