Pokemon TCG Pocket has many powerful ex Pokemon that you can use to dominate your opponent. However, that also means your opponent has a chance to score two points in one go if you’re not careful. If you want to make your opponent’s path to victory as hard as possible, then a single-point deck does the trick.

These are decks that do not use ex Pokemon. Therefore, your opponent will have to knock out three of your Pokemon before they can claim the victory. This is even more difficult when single-point decks can reset all the damage on their Pokemon, blast ex cards in one hit, or use sneaky tactics so your opponent’s best Pokemon never see the light of day.

9 Budget Blaine

Surprise Your Opponent With Fluctuating Damage

Magmar, Rapidash, and Ninetails work together to form one of the better single-point decks in the game. Using the power of Blaine these Pokemon can hit bit damage numbers when your opponent least expects it.

Ninetails does 90 damage for two Energy and with the help of Blaine, it can take down Pikachu ex in one shot. Meanwhile, Rapidash and Magmar can dish out 40 and 50 damage each. There are no ex Pokemon here and no Stage Two cards are needed. Low Energy costs also mean there is no need for Moltres ex.

8 Alakazam

Damage That Scales With Energy

Alakazam may be a Stage two Pokemon, but it can pack a punch that can send even the toughest Pokemon to the discard pile. The idea here is to punish your opponent for having too much Energy with an attack that gets stronger the more its target has.

Alakazam is a flexible single-point card since you can match it up with other strategies commonly used with ex Pokemon. You can use Gardevoir for Energy acceleration or slide in some Hypno for a chance to force your opponent’s Pokemon to Sleep.

7 Dragonite

Cataclysmic Damage With No Ex Pokemon

One unique single-point deck is Dragonite. Dragonite requires both Water and Electric Energy to function, but once you set it up, it will devastate your opponent with 200 damage spread out. Getting to this point is made easy with the help of Weezing.

Weezing is another single-point Pokemon that can tank a few hits and protect your Dratini as it Evolves through its stages. When you’re ready to attack using Dragonite, use Koga to bounce the Weezing back and switch in your main attacker.

6 Mankey Dugtrio

An Offensive And Defensive Strategy

Marowak ex doesn’t have to be a part of this deck. Primeape has enough of a punch to do all the fighting. Regardless, splashing in Dugtrio is a great way to stun opponents and get some damage in without getting hit back.

With Promo Mankey damaging itself for ten, it can promote itself to Primeape and be instantly ready to deal the maximum damage for only two Energy. This is a fast and aggressive way of beating down Basic and StaGe one Pokemon while also being strong against Electric-type cards.

5 Raichu

A Tech Heavy Electric Deck

Raichu is a surprisingly complex deck. It has a battery on the Bench in the form of Magneton accumulating Energy which can then be transferred out using Lt. Surge. Electrode is a strong Pokemon with a 70-damage Move and free retreat, so it naturally counters Sabrina.

the main hitter, Raichu, can deal 140 damage in one hit but loses all of its Energy in the process. This deck is good for some sneak attacks with Lt. Surge being a good way of instantly filling up Raichu without your opponent being able to predict what’s going to happen before it happens.

4 Gardevoir Golurk

Powering Up A Finishing Move

Golurk is a Stage One Pokemon with the ability to deal up to 200 damage. The only downside is that this costs four Energy. So to make up for this, Gardevoir will be on your Bench providing Energy acceleration.

Splash in a Farfetch’d for some early-game damage while also allowing your other cards to Evolve into their most powerful forms. If all goes well, Golurk will be able to knock out most Basic Pokemon with a single successful coin flip. Get two, and Golurk will knock out any Pokemon in the game.

3 Arbok And Pidgeot

Locking Your Opponent In Place

Arbok and Pidgeot form a combo that can leave your opponent’s underprepared Pokemon taking damage with no way to Retreat. The ideal play here is to have Pidgeot on the Bench, forcing other Pokemon out, while Arbok uses Corner to lock them in place.

Throw in a copy of Helix Fossil and you can prevent your opponent from trying to evade your next Corner attack. However, even if Pidgeot comes into play, Wing Attack does 70 damage for only two Energy. This gives it a reliable way of defending itself if it needs to start attacking.

Steel’s Time To Shine

Melmetal is a promising card that you can put to use in a fun single-point deck. This deck revolves mostly around keeping Weezing out while Melmetal gets ready to use Heavy Impact. With 120 damage and Hard Coat reducing all incoming damage by 20, Melmetal is one of the best Steel Pokemon in the game.

Even if Meltan is your first Pokemon in your Active Spot, Amass can help it generate Steel Energy. This makes Melmetal’s, Heavy Impact easy to gather Energy for. Without using any Darkness-type Energy, Weezing can still Poison by using Gas Leak. It can also bounce back to your hand using Koga.

1 Pure Koga

Pull Your Opponent’s Wins Away

Koga is primarily used as a way to get Weezing off the field and switched out for something else. However, a pure Koga deck is also possible with Arbok, Muk, and Weezing leading the charge. This deck uses Darkness Energy so even Weezing will be able to attack when necessary.

The main draw for this single-point deck is that even if your opponent manages to land a few good hits on your Pokemon, Koga can just get them out of the way before they score a point. This stalls the game even further than most other single-point decks. You can even take advantage of Weezing’s Gas Leak to give Muk’s Venoshock Move a significant power boost.
