Some Diablo 4 Players Will Be Missing Out on Future Content

Key Takeaways

  • Some future seasonal content for Diablo 4 will be exclusive to Vessel of Hatred expansion owners.
  • Skipping the expansion means missing out on content like the Spiritborn class.
  • Season 7 of Diablo 4 is on the horizon, with no specific start date announced yet.

Some future Diablo 4 content will be exclusive to those that own the Vessel of Hatred expansion. Diablo 4 was wildly successful when it first launched, but post-launch updates saw the community sour on the game. Then, Blizzard managed a turnaround, issuing updates that have proven to be largely popular among fans and launching the critically-acclaimed Vessel of Hatred expansion.

Diablo 4‘s Vessel of Hatred expansion adds a new class to the game, the Spiritborn, and also gives players the chance to explore the Nahantu region and experience a brand-new story. It’s earned critical acclaim since its launch, and in fact, has helped Diablo 4 be nominated for The Game Awards 2024 in two different categories: Best Ongoing Game and Innovation in Accessibility.

Blizzard reveals the Black Friday 2024 deals for Diablo 4, which offer excellent deals for gamers who don’t own the popular action RPG yet.

For many hardcore Diablo 4 fans, picking up Vessel of Hatred is a no-brainer. However, there may be those who are satisfied with the base game, or maybe choose to play the game through Xbox Game Pass and don’t want to spend money on the expansion. Unfortunately for those individuals, it’s been confirmed that some future seasonal content will be exclusive to those that own the Vessel of Hatred expansion. Diablo boss Rod Fergusson revealed this in an interview with Polygon, stating, “We’re going to continue to develop features that will be, essentially, exclusive to Vessel of Hatred owners.”

Diablo 4 Will Have Some Exclusive Seasonal Content for Vessel of Hatred Owners

owners.”

While this may be disappointing news to those playing Diablo 4 through Game Pass or anyone that is only interested in the base game content, it does make sense. After all, the existence of Vessel of Hatred already means that some Diablo 4 players are missing out on content anyway. Those that choose to skip the expansion don’t get access to the Spiritborn class and a slew of other content that was added as part of the DLC.

So far, no Vessel of Hatred-exclusive seasonal content has been announced for Diablo 4, so it will be interesting to see how it’s ultimately handled. At the moment, Blizzard is busy with Diablo 4 Season 6, which won’t be wrapping up until January 21, 2025. However, the studio is already looking to Diablo 4‘s future, as it has recently pulled the curtain back on some of the content and balance changes that will be coming as part of Season 7. A specific start date for Diablo 4 Season 7 has not been announced yet, but it will presumably start at the end of January after Season 6 comes to an end.
