One such secret can be found in the Library of Lore, and you’ll work with Olaf to learn more about the wonderful creatures that occupy the Storybook Vale. Here’s everything you need to know to help Olaf the snowman learn more about the fluffy little owls and his new friend, the Lorekeeper, in Disney Dreamlight Valley!
How To Start A Hoot And A Half Quest
Before you can start this quest, you’ll need to find Olaf’s notebook in the Library of Lore. It’s on the floor in the eastern wing of the library, between the two lounge chairs on the left.
When you pick up Olaf’s Fun Facts, return them to him. He’ll tell you all about his new friendship with the Lorekeeper and you’ll get to see him ask her a few questions. When he’s done, she asks to speak with you.
The Lorekeeper needs her rest and asks if you can find something else to occupy the snowman’s time while she recovers. This means you’ll need to ask Anna for some help.
Anna suggests finding Olaf a new hobby, which could work!
How To Help Olaf Find A New Hobby
When it comes to finding a new hobby for Olaf, Anna has a few ideas. He’ll need something to draw his attention, so try taking photos of the following subjects to keep Olaf busy:
- The Library of Lore.
- A mysterious hidden doorway beneath the bridge in the Bind.
- Two of the fountains in the Storybook Vale.
- Three of the owls in the Storybook Vale.
The owls are available at different times of the day, so make sure to
check their schedule
to find them all!
Once you’ve taken photos of everything, show them to Olaf! He’s excited and wants to get up close and personal with an owl. This means you’ll need to feed one and unlock the owl as a companion.
To do this, you’ll need to feed an owl two to three times. Feeding them their favorite food will speed this up. Owls in Storybook Vale love to eat any type of grain, like wheat and rice, but their absolute favorite is barley.
Return to Olaf when you unlock a new feathered friend. He’s excited to share some more owl facts he learned from Merlin, and wants to build the birds something to gather around.
How To Craft The Autumn Mage Scarecrow
To appease Olaf, you’ll need to craft the Autumn Sage Scarecrow. The materials required can be found in the Storybook Vale, specifically around the Bind. You’ll need:
- Petrified wood (10)
- Soil (5)
- Sorcerer Hat Hermit Crab (3)
- Trumpet Snail (5)
- Pine Cone (10)
With everything gathered, head to your Crafting Station and put it all together. Then, place the scarecrow in Storybook Vale and talk to Olaf. He’s grateful for your help and hopes you keep getting to know the owls around the Vale.
