Shinedust in Pokemon Pocket might remind you of Stardust from Pokemon GO, but the two are entirely unrelated—which could explain some confusion among players. In Pokemon Pocket, Shinedust serves as a cosmetic currency. It’s not essential for completing your Pokedex or gaining a competitive edge in battles, but it allows you to craft more visually striking cards to flaunt.

What Is Shinedust in Pokemon Pocket?

In Pokemon TCG Pocket, Shinedust is a cosmetic-exclusive currency. It’s primarily used to trade for Flairs, which are 3D overlays that enhance your cards’ appearance. Additionally, on One-star or rarer cards, Shinedust can be exchanged for a Special Ticket—another currency dedicated to unlocking cosmetic upgrades.

Is Shinedust the Same As Pokemon GO’s Stardust?

Although their names sound similar, Stardust and Shinedust are entirely different currencies. Shinedust in Pokemon Pocket is exclusively for cosmetics, while Stardust in Pokemon GO serves multiple gameplay purposes, like powering up Pokemon. You can enjoy Pocket without worrying about Shinedust, but in Pokemon GO, Stardust is a vital resource for progress.

How Can You Earn More Shinedust?

The most effective way to farm Shinedust in Pokemon Pocket is through Solo Battle challenges. Winning matches against the AI in this mode can reward you with 50 to 200 Shinedust per match, adding up to over 3,000 Shinedust if you complete all missions.

Here’s how many Shinedust you can get based on Solo matches’ difficulties:

• Beginner = 50 Shinedust per win
• Intermediate = 100 Shinedust per win
• Advanced = 150 Shinedust per win
• Expert = 200 Shinedust per win

You’ll also earn Shinedust passively by opening booster packs. Duplicate cards from packs are converted into Shinedust, with higher rarity duplicates yielding more. For instance, two one-diamond duplicates grant 20 Shinedust, while two four-diamond duplicates reward you with 600 Shinedust.

What Are Some Alternative Ways to Get Shinedust?

Most other ways to obtain Shinedust aren’t worth the effort. However, if you’re determined to maximize your earnings, you can try completing advanced missions, purchasing Shinedust with Premium Tickets, or collecting it through Achievement rewards. Remember, though, that these methods provide only minimal amounts of Shinedust, which may feel unrewarding.

Advanced Missions

If you’re new to Pokemon Pocket, head to the Missions section and check the Advanced objectives. These one-time tasks offer Shinedust rewards and are a great way to kickstart your collection.

Premium Tickets

You can exchange one Premium Ticket for 50 Shinedust at the in-game shop, but we strongly recommend against it. Premium Tickets are earned by completing exclusive tasks in the Premium Pass and should be reserved for more valuable rewards, not easily obtainable currencies like Shinedust.

Achievements

Unlocking all four tiers of an Achievement in Pokemon TCG Pocket rewards you with 250 Shinedust. While this isn’t a large amount, it’s a nice bonus as most players will naturally progress toward unlocking Achievements.

What to Do with Your Shinedust?

It’s currently best to save your Shinedust until Pokemon Pocket’s Trading feature is unlocked. Shinedust might be used as the currency for card exchanges, so having a stockpile could be useful once trading is available.

If trading isn’t a priority for you, you can spend Shinedust on Flairs, which are animated effects you can equip on your cards to make them stand out in battles. However, most pro players suggest avoiding this cosmetic feature, as the return on investment is minimal.
