Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest: How Strong Is Ignia?

Key Takeaways

  • Ignia, the Fire Dragon God, is introduced as the strongest of the Five Dragon Gods in Fairy Tail’s 100 Years Quest.
  • Ignia’s ties to Igneel, Natsu’s father figure, create a complex rivalry, as he seeks to defeat Natsu.
  • Ignia wields Fire Dragon Slayer Magic, displaying unmatched power and leading the dark guild Flame and Fire.

Fairy Tail’s 100 Years Quest sequel has introduced all sorts of new characters into the mix, which has further expanded Fairy Tail’s already-expansive roster of characters. Arguably the most intriguing of these characters is the lineup of new antagonists that are set to take center stage throughout the 100 Years Quest sequel. However, one antagonist has already been hinted at to be the strongest — Ignia, the Fire Dragon God.

With an appearance early on in the sequel and a glimpse of his scorching fire, Ignia has already cemented himself as the strongest of the Five Dragon Gods of Guiltina. Ignia has already been touted as the final Dragon God that team Natsu will have to seal away, though Natsu has a long way to go before he can hope to rival Ignia’s godlike power.

Ignia was introduced in Fairy Tail’s 100 Years Quest sequel alongside the rest of the Five Dragon Gods, the last remaining dragons that fled to Guiltina 400 years ago during the Dragon King Festival. While the Dragon Gods were initially weaker than Acnologia, each one of the dragons eventually surpassed the Black Dragon, both in power and prestige. Ignia is among this exalted group of dragons, with the moniker of the Fire Dragon God.

About 400 Years Ago, we fled from Acnologia and came to Guiltina.

However, Ignia isn’t merely just a Dragon God, as his ties with Fairy Tail’s titular character run much deeper. The Fire Dragon God has been revealed to be the flesh and blood of the Fire Dragon King Igneel. This relationship deems Ignia a brother to Natsu Dragneel, which has further created a rift between the two characters, since Igneel raised Natsu as his own son.

Oddly, the true reason behind Ignia’s rivalry with Natsu doesn’t have much to do with their peculiar familial ties. Instead, Ignia wishes to fight the human who defeated the Black Dragon Acnologia. Ignia’s goal was to slay the Black Dragon himself, but with the Acnologia now gone, his next target is fighting Natsu in the hopes of finally finding a worthy rival. Ignia’s character is one of many mysteries, though is certainly boasts the characteristic arrogance and egoism of a true antagonist.

Ignia Unleashes His Flame in 100 Years Quest

Despite only making a handful of appearances in the anime and manga so far, the reason behind Ignia’s status as a Dragon King has long been established. Ignia’s scorching hot flames can evaporate the seas and oceans, making his flames the only ones that are resistant to the potency of water magic. This became evident after Natsu consumed Ignia’s bright red flames, which resulted in him gaining unprecedented power that even nullified the Water Dragon God’s magic.

His magical ability has been touted to be stronger than both the Fire Dragon King Igneel and the Black Dragon Acnologia, a feat that deems him the strongest Dragon in Fairy Tail. While the true extent of his power is yet to be put on full display, the minor glimpses and rumors of his godly power are enough to pin him as the strongest character in the 100 Years Quest sequel so far.

Ignia’s magic power has expanded Fairy Tail’s power ceiling to new heights, as no character has exhibited such immense magical prowess in the series so far. While the true extent of his draconian powers is yet to be seen, the few abilities he has used so far are enough to paint a picture of his godlike strength.

With a mix of intellect, intuition, and wits, these characters have cemented themselves as some of the smartest mages in all of Fairy Tail.

Ignia possesses Fire Dragon Slayer Magic, the same form of magic that Igneel and Natsu possess. However, the latter’s prowess in Fire Dragon Slayer Magic pales in comparison to that of Ignia. With just his presence, Ignia is able to erect pillars of flame from the ground, with the sky turning dark with his crimson flames and ash clouds.

Let’s have a battle that can burn us with excitement.

His strongest spell so far is the Fire Dragon’s Roar, the iconic spell of every Dragon Slayer Magic user. However, Ignia’s roar is said to be the strongest of all, as none can counter his hellish flames. His residual flames through Natsu were able to take down Mercphobia in his Dragon form.

The Strongest Guild Master

Ignia's Dragon Form Fairy Tail

Ignia’s godly strength is further testified by his status as the guild master of the dark guild known as Flame and Fire. The guild is composed entirely of a variety of fire magic users, with every member identifying as a disciple of Ignia. As a dark guild, Flame and Fire is responsible for all sorts of unspeakable crimes in Guiltina.

Out of all the members of this dark guild, Ignia himself is the most destructive of all. He is notorious for the chaos and destruction that comes in his wake, as he has devastated several nations on the continent of Guiltina. Being a guild master of such a formidable guild is another nod to Ignia’s unprecedented power in Fairy Tail’s 100 Years Quest sequel.
