On Thursday, information detailing Assassin’s Creed: Shadows‘ Animus Hub, including its first “Battle Pass,” along with reward tiers were leaked online. A day later, on Friday, Ubisoft came in front of the leaks to clarify its plans when it comes to the Animus Hub.

In a post to the official Assassin’s Creed subreddit, a Ubisoft community manager clarified the following elements of the Animus Hub:

  • All rewards within the Animus Hub will be free.
  • There will be no paid Battle Passes or monthly/yearly subscriptions.
  • Players will be able to access downloadable content, including missions, at no extra cost.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows might be getting a co-op mode, but the PvP multiplayer is the ones fans love and want.

What We Know Of The Animus Hub

To start, the Animus Hub will act similar to the Call of Duty HQ launcher, serving as the home for future Assassin’s Creed titles moving forward. But beyond serving as a launcher, it’ll also have “Battle Passes” and cosmetics.

Via Thursday’s leak, the details of the first “Battle Pass” were revealed, which will be named “Eye in the Dark.” That particular pass had 20 levels worth of rewards, including several “Cerulean” themed weapons and outfits. Other passes will be named “The Hidden Network,” “The Last Ronin,” and “In The Shadows,” according to information from Insider Gaming.

Perhaps the most interesting element was the fact that the player can control Yasuke inside the hub itself. It’s unclear if other protagonists will be accessible, including Naoe, Shadows’ other protagonist. What is clear is that Ubisoft will not be charging for any of this, at least monetarily. As far as time sink is concerned, we’ll have to wait for further details to better understand how easy or hard the tiers are to complete.
