A Pokemon TCG fan was incredibly lucky to pull a Mew ex card from a mini tin. Pokemon TCG players always look for the rarest and most impressive cards to add to their collections. But while getting these cards is no easy task, it’s not uncommon for them to pop up in unexpected situations.

There’s no shortage of stories of rare finds, like the Pokemon TCG player who pulled a Charizard EX full art from a single pack of the Scarlet and Violet 151 set, or the player who discovered Iono, one of the most coveted cards from the Paldea Evolved expansion, in a garbage can at their work. A third player made the headlines, this time for getting three full art cards from the Bulbasaur evolutionary line in a single package, including a Venusaur EX. This time another Pokemon TCG player has made the news, and their pull is even more impressive.

Redditor Harryprk2x was surprised when they pulled the Mew ex card from a mini tin. They say they tried to buy the Surging Sparks expansion but were unsuccessful, as it was out of stock. Instead, they got eight mini tins from the Paldean Fates set, pulling out the ex variant of the Mythical Pokemon from Kanto in an impressive illustration. Signed by the artist known as USGMEN, the card depicts the Psychic-type inside an energy sphere, showing other Pokemon like Poliwag and Oddish with a more cartoonish flair.

Why Mew ex is a Card Coveted by Pokemon TCG Fans

Mew ex debuted in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 151 set with an illustration by aky CG Works. The card then got five variants, like the one pulled by OP, with a rare illustration released as part of Paldean Fates, the second special expansion of the Scarlet and Violet series of Pokemon TCG. Another three cards are signed by aky CG Works, two of them being ultra-rare and hyper-rare prints. The sixth card is an illustration by Natsumi Yoshida released as part of the SVP Black Star Promos series.

While Paldean Fates hit the shelves at the beginning of the year, the most recent Pokemon TCG release is the Surging Sparks expansion, which brought 252 new cards for players to collect. The expansion introduces new Stelar Tera Pokemon ex cards, continuing the concept introduced by the Stellar Crown set. But there’s more coming with the upcoming Prismatic Evolution set, which will feature new Eevee cards in stunning illustrations.
