Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 patch adds new gun and buffs a ton more

The one thing you need to remember about the Warhammer 40k universe is that hyperbole is the default. Every single species, character, and faction is incredibly over the top, and that applies to the weapons too. In a new update for Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2, a new gun has been added and it’s no surprise to learn that it’s just as exaggerated as the ten foot tall genetically engineered super soldier wielding it.

The new Neo-Volkite Pistol works very similarly to another famous weapon that fans of the Halo series may remember. Basically, it’s a heat-based Needler. In Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 you fire a beam of energy at an enemy, doing some light chip damage, until it reaches a threshold. Once that’s hit, things go very wrong for the target very fast. Like in all the best Warhammer 40k games, chaos swiftly ensues, with an explosion rippling out from the enemy, hurting everything around and most likely killing your foe. It’s probably not going to be your primary weapon any time soon, but it’ll definitely add a big bang to your arsenal when you choose to deploy it.

In addition to the new gun, update 4.5 has also buffed several primary weapons in Operations mode. The Plasma Incinerator now generates less heat, meaning you can fire it more frequently. The Bolt Sniper Rifle now has an increased fire rate, and does more damage on headshots along with the Occulus Bolt Carbine which gains a scope too. The Bolt Carabine (SMG) now deals a lot more damage when close up, and the Auto Bolt Rifle has had its max ammo increased.

You’ll also find several bug fixes in update 4.5 which deal with perks not triggering when killing enemies, some Sniper class issues, and a few others. Crashes, stability, and connectivity have all been improved too, so you should have a smoother time in Space Marine 2 if you’re diving in after this patch.

Update 4.5 is out now for Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2. If you’d like to get the full lowdown of what’s new, the patch notes should illuminate you with the holy light of the God Emperor of Mankind.
