Every PS5 Pro Game with 8K Mode Support Explained

Every PS5 Pro Game with 8K Mode Support Explained

Now that the PlayStation 5 Pro is here, news of developers upgrading their games to take full advantage of the high-powered console’s specs is continuing to roll out. From Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to Baldur’s Gate 3, some of the biggest games from the past few years are getting a fresh coat of paint with the PlayStation 5 Pro. Enhanced graphics and performance are to be expected, but when it comes to the console’s 8K resolution support, very few games have yet to jump on board.

This could be because gaming in 8K requires specific support. Accessories like high-resolution PC monitors, TVs, and quality hardware can make it a more difficult goal to attain, but 8K resolution can make a game look absolutely stunning if it has the right support. Unsurprisingly, the PS5 Pro offers 8K resolution, and a trio of games have embraced the feature.

Three Games Are Confirmed to Have 8K Support on the PS5 Pro

No Man’s Sky

The most recent game announced to offer support for 8K resolution is No Man’s Sky. The survival-based space adventure has become a beloved sci-fi epic. Developer Hello Games confirmed 8K support for No Man’s Sky, giving players the option to experience the game at 7680 x 4320 resolution. The frame rate for this mode is locked at 30fps, while the 4K option bumps that up to 60fps. This embrace of 8K support is no surprise, as Hello Games developer Martin Griffiths has voiced his love for the PS5 Pro’s visual capabilities on X. With diverse landscapes playing a huge role in No Man’s Sky, experiencing this game in a fully supported 8K set-up could bring the title to the next level in terms of appearance.

Hello Games also confirmed that

also now has cross-save features.

Gran Turismo 7

Another adopter of the PS5 Pro’s 8K support is 2022’s Gran Turismo 7. The racing title continues a long-running franchise, and it also seeks to look as sharp as possible when being played on the PS5 Pro. Although the PS5 Pro enhancement has yet to be dropped for Gran Turismo 7, it could arrive very soon. Even without the patch, reports from sources like PlayStation Universe are claiming there is already an improvement to the game, as it runs native at 4K resolution with 120fps. Gran Turismo 7 was one of the earliest titles to be confirmed for a PS5 Pro enhancement, and its already-realistic graphics are sure to shine through even more.

F1 24

Continuing the trend of racing games embracing 8K support, F1 24 on the PS5 Pro also boasts this high-level resolution. In contrast to Gran Turismo 7, though, the enhanced patch for F1 24 dropped the day of the PS5 Pro’s launch, so experiencing the game in 8K resolution is now official.

  • F1 24 runs native at 4K resolution and a frame rate of 120fps.
  • In order to reach 8K at 60fps, F1 24 utilizes the PS5 Pro’s highly-anticipated PSSR.

More Games Are Bound to Support the PS5 Pro’s 8K Resolution Feature

Unannounced Titles Waiting in the Wings

As of now, these three games are the only titles confirmed to support 8K resolution on the PS5 Pro. While F1 24 and Gran Turismo 7 seek to bring more realism to their graphics, enhancements to No Man’s Sky will likely breathe more life into its planets. As more games release PS5 Pro updates, it’s likely that the list of 8K-supporting titles will grow in the coming weeks and months.

Since the base console’s initial launch in 2020, Sony has sold a mind-blowing 65.5 million units worldwide. Now that the PS5 Pro is part of the equation, it will be fascinating to see how many gamers gravitate toward the beefed-up version of the console.
