The Mystery of Arpeggio Fault is one of the events featured in Zenless Zone Zero’s 1.3 update. It tasks players with assisting the New Eridu Defense Force with setting up a base in the titular Arpeggio Fault in hopes of securing a route to the old capital. There’s a nice bit of worldbuilding here, but if you just want to get more stuff for your account, then this is a good place to start.
Events are generally great sources of Polychromes in ZZZ. They don’t take long to complete and are often quite fun too. The Mystery of Arpeggio Fault has tons of Polychromes on offer, but players will have to see to it all the way to the end if they want to get all the rewards.
Mystery of Arpeggio Fault – Goals and Gameplay
Head to Scott Outpost and talk to Roland to start this event. The goal in every Arpeggio Fault expedition is to reach an exit hidden inside each map. Here, combat is done strictly via the TV monitor — you won’t be bringing any of your ZZZ characters along, and instead, you’ll be going with the group of Bangboo as led by Soldier 11. There are five areas in total, and each has several floors to explore.
As you’re exploring, you’ll encounter Ethereals blocking your way. All you need to do is bump into them. Both you and the enemy will deal and take damage according to your attack stats, but if your attack is higher than the enemies, then you will be unharmed.
The further you progress, the tougher enemies will become. Back at Scott Outpost, you can upgrade your squad by spending Crimson Silk to buy perks from the Tech Tree. Additionally, your squad will level up as they gain XP during an expedition. Leveling up will earn you bonuses based on your selected Sub-Strategies from before you enter a floor.
Players can speedrun levels by making a beeline for the exit. However, doing so may lock them out of challenge rewards. If you’re not in a hurry, take time to explore every part of a level for some extra resources and Polychromes.
Mystery of Arpeggio Fault Event Rewards
Every floor you complete rewards you with upgrade materials and a bunch of Polychromes. There are also the usual array of event challenges that reward even more Polychromes and materials, so make sure to complete those as you’re running through the Arpeggio Fault.
Perhaps the most important reward from this event is Knightboo, a support-oriented, A-Rank Bangboo that regenerates Energy and deals Ether DMG with its Chain Attack. It won’t usurp the likes of Rocketboo or Amillion in terms of damage, but it can be an excellent alternative for players who don’t have Butlerboo to sustain their team. You can get Knightboo by completing the first area of the event, and you can get copies of it by completing the rest.
