Slitterhead starts to come into its own after you acquire many Rarities, as they not only push the narrative forward but allow you to mess around with new playstyles, encouraging you to try new things and discover exhilarating and rewarding Rarities by simply playing them.

Silent Hill 2: New Game Plus, Explained
Everyone loves a good New Game Plus, but Silent Hill 2 handles it a bit differently than others.
Alex is a perfect example of this, as he is required to access the Oppressive Force mission and is unlocked naturally through the game’s story. He also plays drastically differently from Julee, making him extremely rewarding to play if you’re not used to his slow and methodical approach.
Starting Oppressive Force In Slitterhead
While you don’t have to bring Alex along for the ride in the Oppressive Force mission, his Skills make some sections much easier to deal with, so we highly recommend having Julee and Alex as your choices here. While we love Anita’s playstyle, it won’t be as effective here.
There will be A LOT of encounters during this mission, so be ready to fight. This is one of the first missions in the game that has substantially more fighting than exploration, which is what makes Julee and Alex the prime choices for your Rarities.
Investigate The City’s Situation
When the mission begins, you will be tasked to investigate the city’s situation, which more or less boils down to just walking forward until you run into Special Forces Units. Once you encounter them, they will begin attacking you, leaving you no choice but to dispatch them.
Despite them having access to guns, they are quite easy to defeat, especially if you use Julee’s Sonic Claws and spam her heavy attack. After you’ve defeated the small group of Special Forces, walk over to the severely injured member and question them about what’s going on to progress the mission.
Head To The Back Alley
After questioning the Special Forces Member, follow the marker into the back alley and continue pushing forward until even more Special Forces Units approach you. This time, however, one of them will have a Riot Shield, which can be highly irritating to deal with.
You can deal with them in a handful of different ways, with the best method being using possession to get behind them, allowing you to hit them in the back, and dealing substantial damage to them. Julee’s Sonic Claws will also go through the Riot Shield and deal damage. It can also break, but it takes quite a lot of damage before doing so and is not the preferred strategy.
We strongly encourage you to deal with the Riot Shield Trooper first, as they are the most annoying. This will only leave standard Special Forces Units, which can swiftly be taken care of just like you did earlier!
Head To The Next S.P.E.U. Position
Continue following the marker to the next S.P.E.U. Position, eventually bringing you to yet another new Special Forces Trooper. This one is arguably more annoying than the Riot Shield Trooper, as they have a Neutralizing Ray Gun that temporarily makes your Skills inactive.
These Troopers are your utmost priority, as your Skills are crucial to your survival. If you see them charging the Neutralizing Ray Gun up, wait for them to fire, then quickly evade to the left or right to avoid getting hit by the blast. If it hits you, switch to someone else immediately, as they will be able to use their Skills.
Defeating the first wave of Special Forces will have a second one march up the stairs, with one member being a Riot Shield Trooper. Deal with them the same way you did last time, then push down the stairs they came up from and eliminate the Trooper standing on top of the truck to progress the mission.
Head Towards The Main Street
Push toward the main street and follow the marker until you are met with even more Special Forces Units; this time, it’s a combination of all the types you fought earlier. Joy. This is the hardest part of this mission, so you’re going to have to go into it with a little bit of strategy.
First, you must target the two Neutralizing Ray Gun Troopers from the top of the vans, as they can severely mess up your gameplay. Don’t even worry about the others. Just make a break for them right off the bat and dispatch them immediately. This will guarantee you always have access to your Skills.
Next, the Riot Shield Troopers will be your focus. There are three of them, so ensure you’re constantly switching to civilians to get behind them and deal damage. Use Julee’s Sonic Claws to penetrate the Shields and deal even more damage, then turn your focus on the remaining Units, which should be a cakewalk by comparison!
Head Toward The Cultist Follower
With the most challenging part out of the way, it’s time to follow the marker to reach the Cultist Follower, who will be a Slitterhead cornered by the Special Forces Units. Approach the scene to trigger a brief cutscene that leads to an encounter with the Slitterhead.
Defeat The Slitterhead
Two Slitterheads will be present for this encounter. Choose one of them and unleash all you have on it, including your Revive All Skill, if your health drops to a dangerous level. Use your Sonic Claws to deal substantial damage and keep spamming heavy attacks to stagger it and finish it off.
Even if there are two of them, the second Slitterhead will run away the moment you kill the other one, forcing you to chase it down, so don’t worry about having to fight it immediately afterward. It’s best to just go all out on one of them instead of trying to play it safe and deal damage to both, which is a waste of time and resources.
Chase After The Slitterhead
Chase after the Slitterhead, using Blood Jump to scale the neon signs, chasing it onto a rooftop and up a large piece of scaffolding that leads to the top of another rooftop. Once you reach this point, another cutscene will play, having the Slitterhead transform into a Warty Frogfish Slitterhead, which is the last encounter of the mission.
Defeat The Warty Frogfish Slitterhead
Facing the Warty Frogfish Slitterhead isn’t nearly as annoying as the last Special Forces section, so if you made it this far, you should be more than ready to finish it. Julee can deal substantial amounts of damage to this Slitterhead with her Sonic Claws and heavy attacks, allowing her to stagger it with ease.
The only attack you really have to watch out for here is when the Slitterhead glows red, as that indicates an unblockable move is coming, meaning you must evade it, or it will deal substantial amounts of damage to you on contact. Other than that, keep applying your offense and watch its health get demolished.
Furthermore, parrying is also extremely good against this Slitterhead, as its attacks are easily telegraphed and give you ample time to react and parry. Switching to Alex will also be beneficial, as his Blood Well and Blood Blast combination does tons of damage as well!
Oppressive Force Rewards
Completing Oppressive Force for the first time pays out big with 22 Skill Tokens, allowing you to choose between Julee, Alex, or Anita to distribute them to. Or all three if you’re feeling extra generous. Again, this is the point of the game where you really have to start being selective in terms of upgrades.
As always, here’s another friendly reminder to ensure you’re listening to every ‘Talk’ option available to unlock more missions and potential hints that may lead to additional Rarities!
