When is the next Once Human server wipe? Losing all your in-game progress can be a difficult pill to swallow, but in a seasonal live-service survival game like Once Human, it’s a necessary evil to make way for new content. The best way to ahead of a server wipe is to be prepared and keep an eye on the calendar so it doesn’t come as a nasty shock when the season rolls over.

Thankfully, we can tell you exactly when to expect the next Once Human server wipe, and offer some handy tips on how to save some of your hard-won items in the free PC game. Each Once Human server has a seasonal scenario that offers specific objectives and mechanics that lasts for a certain period of time. The Once Human server wipe frequency varies from season to season, and developer Starry Studio will be integrating a permanent, regular scenario in the future. When is the next Once Human wipe?

The Once Human server wipe took place on Thursday, October 17 for PvE players. The server wipe for PvP players took place on Thursday, September 26. Seasons typically last a minimum of six weeks, so we expect the next Once Human server wipe to arrive at the end of November.

Starry Studio confirmed Once Human server wipes in a dev blog in May, explaining that “every season introduces a fresh journey where you start anew and experience exclusive seasonal content within a fixed timeframe.” Since then, it has published a more cohesive rundown of how seasonal content – scenarios – will materialize over on the game’s official Discord server.

Server wipes often coincide with maintenance as the developers prepare for a new season, so check out the Once Human server status if you have trouble getting back in after the wipe. We anticipate Starry Studio to ameliorate player disruption with Once Human server queue compensation.

Once Human server wipe: Scenarios for 2024

How do Once Human server wipes work?

Once Human server wipes take place at the end of each seasonal scenario, which themselves vary in length depending on the quantity of content to clear. Each scenario has different rules and game objectives, switching up the gameplay loop each season. A scenario can be considered the server’s theme.

Scenario content gradually unlocks over the course of a season, and is split into different phases. Once all content is unlocked, the season enters the ‘settlement phase.’ During this time, you can sign up for the next scenario, beginning it as soon as it launches, or you can choose to hold back for an extra four weeks. Should you opt to not sign up at all, your character will be transferred to Eternaland – your own personal world – where you can continue playing until you decide to jump back into a scenario.

As we can see, the first two launch scenarios – Manibus for PvE and Evolution’s Call for PvP – will remain in play until the next two roll around. Prismverse’s Clash has already been confirmed for September, while the new PvE scenario hasn’t been unveiled yet. However, in the same Discord post the studio stated new content was arriving in both September and October, so we can infer for now that the latter refers to the PvE scenario.

Eternaland, the place to save your items from a Once Human server wipe, represented as a utopian realm beyond time and space.

In a Once Human server wipe, you will automatically lose your map exploration progress, character XP, and certain specialized items. Everything you’ve crafted and built within the open-world game’s map will also be erased.

Thankfully, Starry Studio has provided some clarification that players will not lose their in-game progress. “We value the time and effort you put into this game, so the items and gear you have obtained from the seasonal scenario will be retained in various ways,” they say in a Steam news update.

Here is what you will keep after a Once Human server wipe:

  • Characters and Cosmetics: Names, body sizes, fashion cosmetics, character customization data, emojis, actions, namecards, and titles.
  • Material: Starchrims, Crystgins, Mitsuko’s Marks, Stellar Planulas, Sproutlets, Lightforge Ingots, Lightforge Relics, Cosmetic Tokens, Colorful Badges, and Battle Pass tokens (Silver Keys, BP XP, and more).
  • Important in-game progres content: Gear blueprints (and their ratings), Blueprint Fragments, weapon accessories, mods (including mod components), and food recipes.
  • Furniture formulas and house blueprints: Learned furniture formulas (excluding those unlocked via Memetics), house blueprints, and finished furniture items.
  • Seasonal items: Season Honor Shield patterns, Cultivation Essence, and more.
  • Friends: Friends and group chats
  • Task completion progress: You can play streamlined variants of the main and side story tasks that you’ve completed in the current scenario, or play through them fully for a second time.
  • Event progress and materials: Can be checked in the event screen.

It’s also possible to save items from a Once Human server wipe by transferring them to Eternaland. “Essential resources like materials, medicine, and ammunition can be carried over into a new season based on item transferring rules so you can progress faster in the new season,” Starry Studio confirms.

Transferring items costs Material Points, and the amount required varies depending on item type. Thankfully, Material Points refresh each season, so don’t hesitate to spend them all if needed.

A seasonal wipe might come as a blow after weeks spent building your character, but don’t despair – the developer promises “new stories, events, and mechanics” to tackle. We expect the latest seasonal content to present new challenges and Once Human bosses, which demand new abilities, weapons, and deviants to overcome them. You can sign up for the next scenario at the culmination of each season.
