Black Ops 6 synthesizes the best parts of old-school CoD to deliver a refreshing new entry.
In response to a COD content creator, Treyarch’s Matt Scronce shared that a Recon perk nerf would be “incoming.” Scronce did not elaborate, but his words are enough to give Call of Duty fans some reprieve.
The game, which originally launched on Oct. 25, has largely been a smash-hit within the larger COD community, but the presence of the Recon perk has drawn ire and frustration.

Recon Is Seriously Busted
While we at The Gamer originally joked about the return of Last Stand to a Call of Duty game, thinking it would be an issue, it turns out that Recon is actually much worse.
For the uninitiated, when three of the same Recon perks are equipped, then: Enemies can be seen through walls for a short time after respawn; a HUD edge indicator flashes when an enemy is outside your view; leave no death skulls when killing enemies.
On paper, it sounds like a cheat code, and in practice it has been nothing short of that. In the time since Black Ops 6’s launch, fans far and wide have posted clips of them either mowing down waves of enemies due to the perk, or being on the receiving end of said mowing. It’s led to some unbalanced multiplayer matches, particularly on Nuketown, which is an extremely small map.
It’s unclear when exactly the nerf is incoming, but it’s good to know that it is being deployed. Creative perks are nothing new in a COD game, but the Recon tree clearly jumped the ship in the wrong direction.
