How To Acquire Boar Bone and Boar Skin in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
Both Boar Bone and Boar Skin are obtained by hunting boars. Boar Bone is an uncommon item, while Boar Skin is rare, meaning it has a lower drop rate. You’ll likely need to hunt multiple boars to gather enough of both items for crafting and trading.
Fortunately, boars are abundant in the world of Horizon Zero Dawn, and you’ll encounter many during your playthrough. If you want to farm them, head to the marked location shown above; this forested area is densely populated with boars. Equip your bow and arrow and start thinning out the boar population.
Remember to use Focus to tag multiple boars, so you don’t lose sight of them.

Why You Need Boar Bone and Boar Skin in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
Boar Bone
In your Horizon Zero Dawn playthrough, you’ll need three Boar Bones: one for crafting the Hunter Bow Quiver Upgrade 2 and two for the Resources Satchel Upgrade 3. Although the game suggests Boar Bones can be used in trading with merchants, this isn’t the case. You can, however, sell any excess Boar Bones to merchants for 25 Metal Shards each.
Boar Skin
Boar Skin is required far more frequently than Boar Bones. In total, you’ll need four Boar Skins in a standard playthrough, or five if you’re playing on Ultra Hard difficulty.
One Boar Skin is needed for each of the following upgrades:
- Hunter Bow Quiver Upgrade 3
- Resources Satchel Upgrade 4
- Tripcaster Ammo Pouch Upgrade 4
Additionally, one Boar Skin is required to obtain the Shadow Rattler (two in Ultra Hard mode). For players starting a New Game+, five more Boar Skins are necessary to acquire the Adept Stormslinger (10 in Ultra Hard mode).
