Why Elder Scrolls 6 is Unlikely to Disrupt Its Werewolf and Vampire Dynamic
Werewolves and vampires are both a part of The Elder Scrolls‘ world, but The Elder Scrolls 6 isn’t likely to create any new rifts between them. There are undoubtedly a lot of mechanics that will see at least some change in The Elder Scrolls 6. After all, the jump from Oblivion to Skyrim saw some pretty radical changes to the formula. In Skyrim, players even had the chance to see a lot of details in regard to vampires and werewolves. However, at least at the moment, fans shouldn’t expect much in terms of new dynamics between the two.
While some traditions could change with Elder Scrolls 6, one big part of the series’ identity will likely remain. The Elder Scrolls has historically featured a blend of fantasy creatures and characters. From elves to orcs, viking warriors to powerful sorcerers, a lot of popular character archetypes are present. Werewolves and vampires are both a part of Tamriel’s vast repertoire. They’ve been enemies, parts of major storylines, and players have even had the chance to turn their characters into werewolves and vampires themselves. It would be no surprise if The Elder Scrolls 6 gave some notable spotlight to werewolves and vampires once again.

While the scope of Skyrim’s story DLC was limited, Bethesda should have exactly what it needs to surpass hurdles from the past.
Vampires and Werewolves Are Daedric Creations in The Elder Scrolls
Vampires and werewolves in Tamriel are created by two of The Elder Scrolls‘ Daedric Princes. Werewolves are created by Hircine, while vampires are the work of Molag Bal. Despite these tweaked origins, the creatures themselves have most of the same capabilities that one would expect. Werewolves have incredible physical strength and fearsome claws that can rend through enemies. Meanwhile, Vampires are weakened by sunlight and can drain energy from their targets. Both werewolves and vampires have supernatural origins thanks to the Daedric Princes. While that does provide a connection between the two, it’s not as strong as one might think at first glance.
TES’ Vampires and Werewolves Have Little Interaction or Conflict
Werewolves and vampires in Tamriel don’t have much conflict, and even if their respective Daedra return in Elder Scrolls 6, that seems unlikely to change. While Hircine and Molag Bal are not allies, they also don’t have significant conflict with each other either. Admittedly, Molag Bal is one of the most villainous characters in The Elder Scrolls lore, let alone among the Daedra. Despite that, Hircine’s focus is seeking honorable hunts rather than feuds. As a result, Hircine and Molag Bal don’t actively fight each other. While werewolves and vampires often feud in various forms of media, that does not carry over into The Elder Scrolls.
Werewolves and Vampires were prominently featured in
Skyrim
‘s Companions and Dawnguard storylines respectively, but neither fought each other.
Elder Scrolls 6 Hasn’t Foreshadowed Tension Between Werewolves and Vampires
It’s not impossible to see a battle between werewolves and vampires in the future. If the story of The Elder Scrolls 6 features Molag Bal as a major antagonist, then players could find themselves fighting a lot of vampires. Not only that, but it’s fully possible that some werewolves would be joining the fight as well, leading to a proper werewolf vs. vampire conflict. However, that’s only one of many possibilities for the story of a game that is still largely a mystery. Until future news about The Elder Scrolls 6 comes out, there is no evidence of werewolves and vampires clashing.
The Elder Scrolls‘ werewolves and vampires share a relatively neutral relationship, and that’s unlikely to change. While it’s still not clear where The Elder Scrolls 6 will take place, it’s too early to assume any other major shake-ups. There’s a good chance that players will see werewolves and vampires again in The Elder Scrolls 6. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the option to turn into them returned as well. Despite that, there isn’t reason to expect a battle between werewolves and vampires in The Elder Scrolls 6.
