Different moves in Sparking Zero let you teleport behind your enemy, like Instant Transmission or Vanishing Assault. Learn more about them here!
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is a good example of this. With all the different attacks being thrown around, learning how to block and counter is crucial. This guide will go over every counter as well as when and how to use them.
How To Use A Perception Counter
The Perception Counter is the easiest of the counters to learn. Simply pressing and holding the Perception button will counter any melee attack that connects with you. This counter is extremely useful when blocking against an enemy’s Rush Attack to stop them and reset yourselves back to a neutral footing.
Holding the Perception button will slowly drain your Ki Gauge.
A Super Perception can be performed when holding the Perception button against an enemy Smash Attack. Successfully countering a Smash Attack will cost you one Skill Point and will knock the opponent back.
Perception cannot be used against basic Ki blasts or when you are currently being hit with melee attacks.
How To Use A Revenge Counter
The Revenge Counter is a little more advanced. Different from the Perception Counter, a Revenge Counter costs two Skill Points and can only be used when receiving damage from both melee and Ki blast attacks. Press the allocated button after being hit with an attack to perform a Revenge Counter.
While a great tool to stop yourself from receiving damage, the Revenge Counter isn’t 100 percent safe. A perceptive player or opponent will hear a chime ring out when a Revenge Counter is performed. Pressing and holding the Perception button will counter the Revenge Counter and send the opponent away.
Pay close attention to both your and the opponent’s Skill Points to gauge whether you or they will use the revenge counter.
How To Use A Super Counter
The Super Counter is the most difficult but rewarding of all counters in the game. Move forward and press the Attack button right as an enemy’s melee attack lands to initiate a Super Counter. The Super Counter requires no resources, making it one of the most vital counters to master.
The Super Counter cannot counter Ki attacks. However, it can counter all melee attacks.
As mentioned before, the Super Counter is quite difficult to use, mainly due to the animations of many of the characters. The best way to practice is to hop into the Training Mode and set the AI Opponent Strategy to Rush Attacks. While being attacked, listen to the sound of each hit landing and memorize the pattern before performing the counter.
Rather than trying to input the Super Counter at the same time (Forward + Attack Button), you can always hold forward and press the Attack button at the correct time.
