Fortnite Reveals Kicks

Fortnite just announced its heavily rumored shoe cosmetics. Although players seem to get plenty of enjoyment out of using skins, Fortnite seems to be testing the waters for deeper customization, paralleling other experience-based titles like Roblox and Minecraft. Although the necessity of a shoe cosmetic is debated by some, many players are excited about the chance to further stylize their characters.

A new trailer was recently dropped, showing more about the eagerly anticipated Fortnite Remix season. Much of the video focuses on new collaborations with celebrities like Ice Spice, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem. There are portions of the trailer where distinct attention is drawn to players’ shoes, which can now be interpreted as nods to the new feature’s imminent appearance.

Fortnite Update Adding Fan-Requested Game Mode

An upcoming Fortnite update will bring a heavily fan-requested mode into the game, giving players more options to choose from when playing.

The Fortnite team just announced Kicks, going on to detail in a blog post what Fortnite‘s new shoe cosmetics will have in store for players. The cosmetics will arrive as a part of the new Remix Pass for the upcoming season, present in the shop beginning November 12. The game will feature original shoe designs by the Fortnite team and collaborations with popular shoe brands such as Jordans and Nike.

Plans are set for the new Fortnite Kicks skins to be compatible with more than 500 already existing skins, with 95% of outfits compatible by spring 2025. The Fortnite team continues to put effort into expanding player freedom in the game, and giving players the chance to build on that freedom by including more customizable details is one possible way of keeping the hype for Fortnite sustained. Although the initial lineup will focus on Nike and Jordans, the developers teased that plenty of other brands will be joining the lineup.

Although plenty of effort appears to be going into the cosmetics for Fortnite, that may not be the only surprise that the game has in store for fans. Leaks point to the reveal of a new Fortnite game mode. If these rumors are correct, then by Chapter 6, gamers will be able to partake in a 10 player, 5v5 game mode. As Fortnite continues to grow, its options for its players seem to be as well, both with appearance and with gameplay. The shoe cosmetics offer a well of potential for the developers to tap into and could lead to even more style options, such as customizable tops, bottoms, and hats. Although sneaker brands could drive popularity, creating custom in-game shoe lines for specific character drops may also draw new attention.
