Pokemon TCG Pocket mostly revolves around opening card packs to obtain the cutest, strongest, and rarest Pokemon. However, the game limits your daily pack openings to just two due to a cooldown unless you have a mysterious booster: Pack Hourglass.

Pokemon TCG Pocket: How to Build a Deck
Players who are looking to build a deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket can find all the tips and tricks they’ll need in this guide.
The Pack Hourglass is a crucial resource in Pokemon TCG Pocket, as it provides the best way to acquire more cards. Other resources, like Poke Gold, are often too expensive or exclusive to microtransactions, while some are so rare that they aren’t worth the effort to obtain. Therefore, collecting Hourglasses is the best strategy for new collectors. Here’s how to maximize your gains.
This guide excludes the obvious methods for earning Hourglasses, such as completing Missions and claiming event rewards. Instead, we will focus on less intuitive strategies you might not initially consider.
What Are Pack Hourglasses in Pokemon TCG Pocket?
In Pokemon TCG Pocket, a Pack Hourglass is a gacha accelerator. Normally, you can open Pokemon card packs twice a day, with a cooldown of 12 hours. However, Pack Hourglasses can speed up this cooldown, allowing you to instantly pull for more characters.
Each Pack Hourglass reduces the cooldown by one hour, meaning you’ll need 12 Hourglasses to open an additional pack after reaching your daily limit of two draws.
In Pokemon TCG Pocket, there appears to be no limit on the number of Hourglasses you can spend in a day. However, according to the official Pokemon Support team, you can only use up to 720 Poke Gold daily to reduce the waiting time for opening packs. This usage limit resets every day at 6:00 a.m. (UTC).
If you don’t have enough Hourglasses, you can reset the pack timer using Poke Gold, but this isn’t recommended, as Poke Gold is a much rarer currency in Pokemon TCG Pocket and is primarily obtained through microtransactions.
Can You Farm Pack Hourglasses in Pokemon TCG Pocket?
Unfortunately, there’s no guaranteed way to farm large quantities of Pack Hourglasses in Pokemon TCG Pocket. However, the game is quite generous to beginners, providing numerous quick missions and achievement rewards that grant extra Hourglasses.
For example, before reaching the reroll point (after the Basic Tutorials), you have the chance to open up to 15 Pokemon card packs for free. This could yield up to 75 new characters without needing to farm Hourglasses.
If you need more gacha accelerators, here’s how to earn them for free.
What’s the Best Way to Get More Pack Hourglasses?
An effective way to farm Pack Hourglasses is to build a META deck using your starter cards and utilize it in the Solo Battle Mode. One of the primary rewards in this mode is Hourglass, but it can also give you Shop Tickets. Solo matches also feature an auto-battle function that takes care of the combat, allowing you to do AFK Hourglasses farms.
Each beginner battle in Solo mode rewards you with two Pack Hourglasses, meaning you can earn a free pack every six matches. As you climb the ladder, the rewards increase, with Expert Solo Battles granting seven Hourglasses per match.
Additionally, winning Solo matches also awards you with Shop Tickets, which can be used to purchase more Hourglasses. You can exchange a bundle of six Hourglasses for twelve Shop Tickets, so collecting 24 tickets will give you an extra pack opening.
If you complete each Solo mission’s Battle Task, you will earn additional tickets, which will eventually help you buy more Pack Hourglasses.
When Do Shop Hourglasses Restore?
If you purchase all the available Pack Hourglasses from the Pokemon TCG Pocket Shop, they won’t be immediately restored. As of now, it’s unclear when the Shop will restock. However, based on the Premium Ticket Shop’s restock schedule, players assume that Hourglasses will be restocked every 30 days.
