New MW3 Aftermarket Part is so “disappointing” players think it’s bugged

The new JAK Devastators Aftermarket Part lets you wield two Reclaimer 18 Shotguns to double your firepower in MW3. While this sounds deadly in theory, players have been disappointed with how they perform in practice, to the point that some even believe there’s a “serious” bug affecting them.

Aftermarket Parts were a new addition in MW3 to give players even more options when building a loadout. These unique attachments completely change the way a weapon feels, and in some cases transform them into a totally different kind of gun.

However, while some have become meta picks instantly, like the JAK Tyrant 762, others have struggled to make an impact.

On September 12, the JAK Devastators arrived as part of the Week 8 Challenges, allowing players to run a Reclaimer 18 in each hand. But while this sounds like a slam dunk, players have been frustrated with the “disappointingly bad” fire rate of the Akimbo Shotguns.

The discussion started when a Reddit user posted a video comparing the fire rate of the Devastators with the standard Reclaimer 18, showing just how much slower the Aftermarket Part makes it.

In fact, a single Reclaimer, better known as the SPAS-12, can fire as many shots while set to ‘Pump’ as it can with the Akimbo attachment in the same amount of time. Then, when the OP switched to the semi-auto setting, they could unload even more shots in rapid succession.

While some MW3 players felt that this reduced rate of fire was intentional, as the developers could be “scared of releasing another OP AMP,” others argued that it had to be a glitch.

“I genuinely don’t believe this was a deliberate design choice,” said one reply, before another agreed: “Yes they’re seriously bugged. When I fire them in the firing range there’s the delay, but also the shells seem to get stuck.”

The devs are yet to confirm whether or not there is a glitch affecting the JAK Devastators or if the AMP is working as designed.

If this does turn out to be a bug, it’s likely we could see a fix in the MW3 Season 6 update, which is also set to bring new guns like the DTIR 30-06 and Kastov LSW.
