Fans of Universal Orlando received an exciting announcement earlier this week thanks to a reveal of the highly advanced animatronics that can be found when Epic Universe opens next year. Epic Universe will be the third park to join the Universal Orlando Resort and will bring five immersive areas to life.

Currently, the Universal Orlando Resort consists of two parks, Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, as well as a water park, Volcano Bay. Epic Universe will be the third major park to join the Universal Resort and will bring to life highly anticipated areas like Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe featuring the Classic Monsters, the How To Train Your Dragon-inspired Isle of Berk, and an expansion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, as well as a brand-new original area of the park.

It was officially confirmed that the Universal Monsters would be prominently and permanently featured in Epic Universe with an entire area, Dark Universe, dedicated solely to them. In a video shared on Twitter earlier this week, Universal Orlando unveiled a first look at some of the animatronics coming to the area’s attraction, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment.

Universal Classic Monsters Come To Life In A Realistically Frightening Way

The animatronics as shown throughout the video are incredibly realistic with flowing movements and realistic elements designed to frighten and thrill. According to statements made in the video, these animatronics are faster and more advanced than any others Universal has built and guests can expect to see 14 of them throughout the attraction, including Frankenstein, Dracula, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and the Wolfman. The Universal Classic Monsters have been given a lot of love from Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort over the last few years, with the annual Halloween Horror Nights events featuring the monsters in some way every year since 2018. Many fans will surely be excited at seeing them brought to life in a new and terrifyingly real way all year long.

Dark Universe will feature two immersive attractions, The Curse of the Werewolf and Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, immersive restaurants and bars, and meet-and-greet experiences with several of the monsters throughout the area, including the Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Phantom of the Opera. If any of the other animatronics throughout Dark Universe and the rest of the new park are similar to the animatronics unveiled for Monsters Unchained, it could possibly change theme park experiences forever. Although Walt Disney World rides like Na’vi River Adventure and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure have some incredibly advanced animatronics, they have been subject to relentless issues since their respective openings. It remains to be seen how the Monsters animatronics will hold up over time, but if they go well, it could mean incredible things for the future of the Disney and Universal parks.

With this being the biggest park to come to the Orlando area in the last decade, Universal Orlando and Epic Universe are sure to bring in large crowds and excited fans when the new park opens next May. Tickets for Epic Universe are now on sale on the Universal Orlando Website, although they will set fans back by a few hundred dollars. It might be better to wait until the initial hype has died down, especially to see if the animatronics are holding up as well as they should be.
