Neve is a well-respected private investigator based in Docktown, a deprived quarter in Minrathous. This Tevinter mage is also a member of the rebellious Shadow Dragons, and her resolute determination to protect those who need it and bring her enemies to justice are great reasons to have her as a companion. She’s also a talented mage in her own right, bending time and wielding ice magic to slow and shatter foes.

- Faction: Veil Jumpers
- Abilities: Fade Bolts, Enfeebling Shot, Replenish, Time Slow, Galvanized Tear
- Voice actor: Jee Young Han
Bellara is a Veil Jumper with two valuable traits as a companion. The first is that she’s obsessed with the ancient Elven civilization Elvhenan, which may be helpful when going up against the Evanuris. She wields a gauntlet that can transform into a bow, and this versatility extends to her role as a companion. She can manipulate magic to heal and takes control over the battlefield with powerful AoEs.
How to recruit Bellara: Begin the “In Entropy’s Grasp” main quest in chapter two.

The grandson of Caterina Dellamorte, Lucanis is the closest to Antivan Crow royalty as you can get – though this doesn’t equate to a life of privilege. This mysterious mage killer is haunted by a tragic past and a demonic affliction that causes him to withdraw from his allies. Billed as a “bisexual disaster of a human,” Lucanis is a deadly assassin that can sense where the Veil is thin thanks to his long-term exposure to magic.

- Voice actor: Ike Amadi
Davrin is a Grey Warden and consummate monster hunter that prefers the traditional sword-and-board combat style. This Dalish elf broke away from his clan for a life of adventure. As a companion, he can draw the attention of enemies with his battle cry, absorbing damage with his shield before issuing a heavy counterassault. He’s also accompanied by a young griffon under his care – so, that’s an extra mark in his favor.

- Faction: Lords of Fortune
- Abilities: Fire Breath, Dragon’s Roar, Dragonfire Strike, Spitfire, Fortune’s Favor
- Voice actor: Jin Maley
Taash is a Qunari that aligns themselves with the Lords of Fortune based in Rivain. This treasure hunter and occasional dragon slayer dual-wields axes, making them the ideal close-quarters brawler that can wade into large crowds and carve a path for her allies. They can also breathe fire, supporting fan theories that qunari are descended from dragons, though we doubt this dragon slayer puts much stock in it.
How to recruit Taash: Begin “The Dragon Slayer” main quest in chapter seven.
How to start companion quest: Read the note in Taash’s room at the Lighthouse after you recruit them during chapter seven to begin their questline.
Emmrich Volkarin

- Faction: Mourn Watch
- Abilities: Final Rites, Replenish, Entangling Spirits, The Bell Tolls, Time Slow
- Voice actor: Nick Boraine
If you were tempted by Davrin’s griffon, then how about adding a skeletal servant to your party? That’s what you get with Emmrich, an academic necromancer aligned with the Mourn Watch. This well-mannered scholar takes a particular interest in the Fade, and calls upon his occult powers to prevail in combat. His academic endeavors are aided by his faithful undead manservant, Manfred, making this duo the best kind of two-for-one.
