Black Ops 6 players got their first taste of the many new maps during the beta, and while there are some clear standouts, they’re not all made equally.
As players got their first hands-on time with Treyarch’s new game, there has been plenty of discussion within the community about the meta guns and the new Omnimovement system. Another hot topic was maps, which many criticized early on.
So, we’ve ranked every BO6 we’ve played so far from best to worst.

Black Ops 6 maps ranked
- Skyline
- Scud
- Pit
- Stakeout
- Rewind
- Gala
- Derelict
- Babylon
During the Black Ops 6 beta, we got the opportunity to test five core maps and three Strike maps. Once the full game launches on October 25, this pool will grow to 16 altogether, but many of these initial maps have already made an impact on players – both good and bad.
Best maps in BO6
8. Babylon
Babylon takes has the (dis)honor of being the worst map in Black Ops 6 so far. As the smallest core map in the beta, this is clearly Treyarch’s attempt to recreate the fast-paced chaos of something like Shipment, but unfortunately, it has none of the charm that made it a fan favorite.

The long sightlines around the outskirts punish those who try to play aggressively, while running through the middle leaves you vulnerable from all four sides, resulting in matches with more campers than the other battlegrounds on this list.
Black Ops 6 has also had some well-documented spawn issues during the beta too, and the smaller size of Babylon only amplifies these problems and makes for an often miserable experience.
7. Derelict
Derelict feels like a fairly traditional Call of Duty map, making use of the standard three-lane design with a large building on one side to accommodate snipers. However, what holds it back is just how exposed it is when trying to push from one side to the other.

Although there’s plenty of cover such as train cars to duck behind, the layout makes it feel like the enemies can see you from anywhere on the map.
This is especially true if you spawn on the same side as C-flag, as the other team automatically has the high ground and can easily pick you off. While it does make for some interesting showdowns if your team is on point, it can also be an uphill battle that’s too one-sided.

6. Gala
Gala isn’t a bad map by any means, but it’s comfortably the weakest out of the three Strike maps on display during the beta. Although it’s one of the most visually striking, set in an elegant hallway after a high-profile fundraising event, it feels very inconsistent in action.
The map forces teams to fight over the raised stage area in the middle, but once you’re up there you can be picked off pretty easily from nearly anywhere else. So, it often pays to just sit back rather than take the fight to your opponents.

With this in mind, matches don’t always feel as fast or frantic as you’d expect from an arena of this size.
5. Rewind
If you had asked me after weekend one, I’d probably have told you that Rewind is one of the weakest maps in Black Ops 6. However, this is one that gradually reveals itself to you after multiple matches, as you need to adapt to its unique flow and pacing.
It’s still a tough map to love on Team Deathmatch, as the fighting is usually confined to the video store, but on modes like Hardpoint that force you to explore every side, it really comes into its own.

The main drawback is the wide-open street that runs through the center, which can easily lead to you being gunned down while trying to scramble across. But all that being said, while it’s not an option I always hope to see pop up, I know I’m in for a reliably good time whenever it does.
4. Stakeout
Stakeout has absolutely everything that a small map should have. It’s chaotic enough that it’s accessible to everyone, but there’s also plenty of room for smart plays if you’re willing to think outside the box and communicate with your team.

Most of the action takes place indoors, but being able to hop from balcony to balcony along the outskirts and flank the enemies has been constantly thrilling, and running along the rooftops in the center is a high-risk strategy that feels great when it pays off.
3. Pit
Despite some tough competition from Stakeout, Pit narrowly beats it to be the best Stike map so far. Even in the short space of time I got to play it in the beta, it’s clear that it could become Black Ops 6’s Shipment for those who want to grind Mastery camos or level up weapons.

Matches on this map are gloriously chaotic, as you battle it out in a well-designed mine with plenty of narrow tunnels and open caverns. The inclusion of a second level also adds some nice verticality which forces you to think on your feet.
Like any tiny map, Pit can occasionally feel like a blender if the spawns aren’t on your side. But if take the time to master Omnimovement, it’s the perfect arena to show off your skills and break some ankles.

2. Scud
As the largest of the Black Ops 6 maps we’ve played, Scud is easily the most balanced in the beta and provides something for everyone.
If you like to sit back with a Sniper Rifle and pick enemies off, the area behind the broken array is the perfect place to do so. But if you prefer to get in their faces with an SMG, the weaving trenches and abandoned buildings are tailor-made for you.
Like many on this list, the spawns have occasionally let Scud down, especially on TDM. But on objective-based modes like Hardpoint, this is the blueprint that Treyarch should stick to when it comes to medium-sized maps.

1. Skyline
Even with all the different opinions floating around the internet, few can argue that Skyline isn’t the best map Black Ops 6. This gorgeous, colorful arena has quickly become a fan-favorite and it has all of the makings of an all-timer in the Call of Duty series.
While the luxury house and swimming pool is stunning to look at, the reason it’s so popular is that it’s the perfect showcase of Omnimovement and what Treyarch is trying to do with BO6. It feels open and spacious, allowing you to dive and slide to get the better of your enemies, and all three lanes flow beautifully to promote an aggressive playstyle.

But if that’s not how you want to play, long sightlines on the left and right, as well as vantage points in the center, meaning you can dominate Skyline with an SMG, Assault Rifle, or even a sniper.
