Jujutsu Kaisen Is currently in the final phase of the story as the battle against Sukuna is raging on. This fight has been incredibly exciting from the beginning right to where it is right now, and with each passing chapter, there are many interesting developments that change the course of the fight. Of course, right now, Sukuna is fighting against multiple sorcerers, and the strongest of them all are most certainly the likes of Yuji and Maki.

Yuji is the ultimate enemy of Sukuna, given that he’s the protagonist of the series, and at the same time, he has awakened powers that are a perfect counter to the King of Curses. However, Maki cannot be underestimated either. Maki has been very influential in the battle against Sukuna, and had it not been for her, the battle would have been very different at this point in time. Maki has showcased great skill in the fight against Sukuna and she will most likely play a very important role later down the line as well. However, Maki does have some death flags over her head that fans need to be wary of.

Maki Was Able To Restrict Sukuna Greatly In Battle

Maki versus Sukuna has been going on for quite a while now. Fans have thoroughly enjoyed this fight right from the beginning, and it first started when Yuta was taken down by the King of Curses. As fans know, Yuta was inside the domain of Sukuna, and there, he attempted to utilize the power of Jacob’s Ladder to cleanse him and free Megumi from inside. However, given that this plan failed, Yuta was set up for a powerful counter-attack by the King of Curses, and that is exactly what happened. Credit to Yuta, he did not immediately fall when he was struck by this powerful blow. In fact, he broke his domain on purpose, which was a signal for Maki to enter the battle and strike down Sukuna.

Maki did exactly that and before the King of Curse could even realize it, she stabbed his heart, taking it out of the equation. Sukuna was forced to make his heart beat manually and this weakened him greatly. In fact, as the battle continued, Maki and Sukuna engaged in physical combat, and once again, Maki showed that she was superior to him physically. Of course, Sukuna had cursed energy at his side and he could reinforce his body with it. At the same time, he could utilize other powerful techniques as well, such as the Black Flash.

That said, even this black flash was not strong enough to take Maki down. Maki returned to battle immediately after and engaged more in combat against Sukuna. She was able to chop his hands off and Sukuna retaliated with yet another powerful black flash. Maki was able to tank it once again and she is still standing in the middle of the battlefield. Maki is incredibly strong, regardless of what fans think about her and it is clear for the fans to see that she has already surpassed the likes of Toji Fushiguro in battle. While all that is absolutely phenomenal for her character, Maki does have several death flags on her head and this is simply down to the fact that she is one without cursed energy.

Maki Could End Up Becoming A Victim Of Malevolent Shrine

Sukuna recently utilized the power of Malevolent Shrine against the likes of Yuji and the other sorcerers. This time, he was able to utilize it after hitting a black flash, which gave him a sort of an Awakening and allowed him to craft a Domain using a part of his brain that was unaffected by Unlimited Void that was launched by Gojo. By manifesting a powerful Malevolent Shrine, Sukuna was able to launch incredibly powerful blows at everyone around him. These slashes could have been the end of anyone, but Yuji and everyone else defended themselves with the usage of a Simple Domain. Of course, Maki could not do anything even remotely similar, and because of that, she had to rely on Miwa to protect her.

Thankfully, Miwa was able to successfully protect her from this 99-second Malevolent Shrine. However, that does not mean the danger is over already. There is still a threat to her and that comes from Sukuna’s powerful cursed techniques. If Sukuna regains his powers, then, Maki is one individual who lacks defense against him. Of course, she can certainly see attacks coming and dodge them, which is down to her incredibly powerful Heavenly Restriction, but, if Sukuna were to utilize the power of Malevolent Shrine again, which, although unlikely, is still possible if Sukuna were to gain more power as the battle continues, then, Maki would find herself in a lot of trouble, inevitably.

Maki’s Death In Shinjuku Showdown Is A Big Possibility

Maki versus Sukuna can easily go two ways. Either Maki can die here and Sukuna will then be taken down by Yuji Itadori, using Maki’s death as fuel to push himself even further, or, the author will preserve Maki in this battle, help her play a major role in taking down Sukuna, and then, build towards the plotline of a society without cursed energy. Of course, fans know that this has been at the core of JJK from the very beginning, and Maki might just be the key to it all, just as Yuki Tsukumo mentioned a long time ago.

Fans need to keep in mind that before the battle against Sukuna wraps up, some characters are going to die. Right now, those on the battlefield are Yuji, Kasumi Miwa, Maki, and Choso. Out of these characters, one will most likely end up dying. It is possible that even more than one may die. Fans should not be surprised if Choso ends up falling in the next chapter. As such, in the following chapters, Maki could also fall and it all depends on how Gege wants to deal with this particular character and her progression in the story.

Fans should, at the very least, be open to the possibility of Maki dying here, especially given the awful track record of the author when it comes to treating his female characters right. Still, fans can hope that she makes it out of Shinjuku alive and then helps in building a new world order following the fall of Sukuna.

Fans will not have to wait too long to find their answers now, and this is down to the fact that the king of Curses is on his last legs and the sorcerers are very exhausted at this point as well. The battle looks like it is in its climax and it will certainly end sooner rather than later. Once that happens, fans will definitely get the answer to all the questions pertaining to the survival of characters such as Maki.
