Wuthering Waves has announced the upcoming version 2.8 update to arrive soon. With the ongoing 2.7, the game has already marked down the date and showcased what is waiting for the players. The title has shared everything that players can expect to see on a live stream yesterday.
Before we dive in, take a moment to explore everything introduced in the version 2.7 update. As the version has already rolled out, I hope you enjoyed all the updates. Now, the 2.8 update will arrive in-game on the 20th of November 2025.
New Resonators and Resonator Convene will be available
Every time the game releases an update, we wait to see the new resonators. This time, there will be two new ones. One of the resonators will be a five-star while the other one will be a four-star.
- Chisa (5-Star)
- Buling (4-Star)
Along with them, there will be two phases of resonators convened in the version 2.8 update. Both will be limited in time. Here’s the upcoming resonator convenes:
Resonator Convene Phase I
- Horizon of Dawnbreak
- With Hushed Whispers..
Resonator Convene Phase II
- Requiem Without End
- Neptune’s Library
Wuthering Waves Version 2.8 Update brings new Main Quests
Besides the resonators, there will be new main quests. Here are the upcoming quests:
- Chapter II Act XII: Stagnant Dawn on Wastelands
- Chapter II Segue: Flowing Starlight in the Iris
WuWa Version 2.8 Update brings new Weapons, Echoes, and Sonata Effect
Apart from the characters, the game will also bring two new weapons. With their special abilities and effects, these two will perfectly match the title’s vibe in every aspect.
New Weapons
There will be a new five-star weapon for the players.
And, weapons to be added for the upcoming update are:

- Whispers of Sirens
New Echoes
We will be seeing new echoes. This time, there will be three new echoes and one phantom echo. Take a look at what the latest version has to offer. Here’s a list of the new echoes:

- Nightmare: Dwarf Cassowary
Sonata Effects
Sonata Effects are the set bonuses in Wuthering Waves and provide a variety of useful stat bonuses.
- Thread of Severed Fate – 3pcs Set: Inflicting Havoc Bane increases the Resonator’s ATK by 20% and grants 30% Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus for 5s.

New Event arriving with WuWa Version 2.8 Update
There will be a lot of events ongoing throughout the 2.8 update. Let’s take a look at the special events. So far, we do not know what the regular events will be.
Special Events
As with every update, the game is introducing a variety of special events in this upcoming update. These will be time-limited, and you can earn many rewards. Here are the names of each event:
- Stranger Things in Honami: Combat Event
- Gifts of Amber: 7-Day Login Event
- Tactical Simulacra: Off Tune: Featured Combat Event
- Whispers of the Waves: Photo Collection Event
- Lollo Campaign: Rising Anew: Featured Commission Event
- Search for It! Bits of Lahai-Roi: Showcase Event
Optimizations coming with the Wuthering Waves Version 2.8 update
Apart from the main content, WuWa’s version 2.8 update is also bringing several optimizations to improve your gameplay experience. Here’s a look at the key improvements:
Performance Optimizations
Following the Version 2.8 update, the GPU load from Ray Tracing under the same graphics settings will be effectively reduced, boosting the game’s performance efficiency while running with this option enabled.
The Global Illumination effects will be optimized in certain scenes to provide even more immersive lighting in certain areas. Support for DFAO (Distance Field Ambient Occlusion) will be added under some PC graphics settings to bring in richer and more natural lighting.
Echo Absorption
Following the Version 2.8 update, one-click absorption of all absorbable Echoes in a specific radius will be added. A “Main Echo” slot will be added to the “Suggest” feature on the Echo equipment menu.
Upgrade Materials Management
An “Auto Supplement” feature will be added to the Resonator Ascension, Weapon Ascension, and Skill Upgrade menus. When the required upgrade materials are insufficient, clicking this button will open the Auto Supplement screen, where you can directly see which materials you need and use Synthesis, Conversion, or Supply Packs. During Synthesis, if low-rarity materials are insufficient, the system will begin searching for lower-rarity materials and Supply Packs to auto-fill the required material list until all requirements are met.
Better Combat Experience
The Guidebook tabs will be reorganized. You can use the tabs to quickly jump to Recurring Challenges or material farming spots. More details will be displayed for Recurring Challenges, including remaining time and challenge progress, making them easier to track and navigate. When a “Tactical Hologram: Phantom Pain challenge” is initiated again, the Resonators will enter it with full STA. Additionally, the Boss Challenges experience will be optimized; in the prompt that appears after exiting or completing a challenge, the original “Cancel” button will now be replaced with a “Restart” button.
Auto Mute
A “Mute when Game is in the Background” option will be added on PC with Windows. When the option is enabled, the game will be muted automatically if minimized to the taskbar or running in the background.
Updated Negative Statuses
The list is not long, but the updated system will impact the gameplay so you should take a look at it:
Havoc Bane
Some Havoc attacks will apply a stackable Havoc Bane effect to the target. While Havoc Bane lasts, the DEF of the inflicted target is reduced. Havoc Bane stacks up to 3 times by default, with each stack reducing the target’s DEF by 2%.
Fusion Burst
Some Fusion attacks will apply a stackable Fusion Burst effect to the target. When Fusion Burst is stacked to its max, all stacks will be removed to trigger an explosion, dealing Fusion DMG around the target. Fusion Burst effect stacks up to 10 times by default. The higher the stacks, the more DMG dealt.
Glacio Chafe
Some Glacio attacks will apply a stackable Glacio Chafe effect to the target. When Glacio Chafe is inflicted, the target receives Glacio DMG. Glacio Chafe stacks up to 10 times by default. The higher the stacks, the more DMG dealt. Each stack of Glacio Chafe effect reduces the target’s Movement Speed. When Glacio Chafe reaches max stacks, the target will be frozen, and all stacks of Glacio Chafe will be removed. Struggle to accelerate your recovery from the frozen state.
Electro Flare
Some Electro attacks will apply a stackable Electro Flare effect to the target. While Electro Flare lasts, it deals periodic Electro DMG to the target. The target loses half of the effect stacks with each instance of damage. Electro Flare stacks up to 10 times by default. The higher the stacks, the more DMG dealt. At maximum stacks of Electro Flare, any new stack inflicted becomes stackable Electro Rage. Electro Rage increases the DMG dealt by the next Electro Flare trigger. Electro Rage is removed once triggered. Electro Rage stacks up to 10 times by default. The higher the stacks, the more DMG Electro Flare deals.
New Contents
There will be three new contents in the 2.8 update. Here’s an overview of them:
- Stranger Things in Honami: After the end of Honami’s City looping crisis, Namipon from Shashou Cafe contacts you to request your and Chisa’s help in investigating a series of strange occurrences throughout Honami City. Assist Namipon with the investigation while also gathering supplies to renovate Shashou Cafe.
- Tactical Simulacra: Off Tune: With your help, the Tactical Simulacra has achieved initial success. The Academy has managed to measure the Tunability of Tacet Discord frequencies. Disrupting their Tunability would mean a lethal blow to them…
- Lollo Campaign: Rising Anew: Maji, the idea king, is back with yet another new campaign. This time, he’s riding the tech wave and trying to create his very own smart assistant, Lollo Genie. Interact with adorable Echoes and submit their behavioural data to Maji to collect Lollo Stamps and participate in the thrilling lottery!
New Regions
Chronorift Metropolis
A ruined city, like amber trapped in the Sonoro. Once-bustling streets lie overgrown with wild grass, low roads swallowed by seawater. The Lament repeats endlessly, and time and space are fractured, but this view seems frozen, stopped in a silent eternity.
New Outfit
- Zani Deluxe Outfit: Downtown Repose
