Clash of Clans to shake up multiplayer battles with new Battle and Ranked modes

Clash of Clans multiplayer battles update
  • Clash of Clans splits multiplayer battles into Battle and Ranked Battle modes.
  • You can now play either unlimited farming mode and competitive ranked mode.
  • Ranked battles unlock at Town Hall 7 with new leagues and modifiers.

Another massive change to the game, and it is once again an improvement! Clash of Clans is making one of its biggest changes ever to multiplayer battles. The game will soon separate farming and competitive play into two new modes: Battle and Ranked Battle.

This will be included in the upcoming update and is designed to give you more freedom in how you want to attack, without being forced into Legends League too early. Let me explain the details that come with this change.

Changes to Clash of Clans multiplayer battles are a boon for both rank pushes and farming

Let me first explain the two modes that are coming this time.

New Mode Split: Battles and Ranked Battles

Battle Attacks will become your main farming mode. You can search for opponents, decide whether to attack or skip, and collect resources without worrying about trophies. These battles will be unlimited for every player, including those already in Legends League.

As per the details shared, matchmaking will be based on Town Hall level, and a simplified shield system will make things easier to manage.

Ranked Battles are built for pushing your trophies, but they come with a few rules. You’ll have a limited number of daily attacks, just like in Legends League, but unlike farming, you won’t be able to skip opponents. Trophies will only be tied to these battles.

Leagues are also getting a full rework with new tiers, and the top leagues will include special modifiers to make matches more intense.

League System Overhaul

Ranked Battles unlock from Town Hall 7 and work like a mini-version of Legends League. Your Star Bonus and League Bonus will apply to both farming and ranked attacks, but only ranked matches count toward trophies.

When the update goes live, your Town Hall level and current trophies will determine your new league placement. Your highest-ever trophy record will stay on your profile as a badge of honor. For Legends players, loot will now be at risk. To balance this, loot rewards in Legends will also be boosted.

Important things to note before the End of Season

The final season under the current system runs until October 6, 2025. Your performance this season decides where you start in the new league system. Fair play checks will also be done, so only genuine progress counts.

Current League All-Star achievements are being retired. If you haven’t grabbed the free 100 Gems from reaching Crystal, Masters, or Champion, complete it as soon as possible. New achievements will arrive with Ranked Battles, so more ways to earn gems.

Like the special modifiers I mentioned earlier, higher leagues will introduce modifiers like stronger defenses and weaker attacking heroes; more details are yet to arrive.

The update is turning out to be a big one, which is expected to arrive this October, as the countdown for the Town Hall 18 Update is on. Read other Clash of Clans stories:
