To the people supporting these tariffs…
You are misinformed about tariffs. The end consumer pays them. Tariffs can be good when they target goods that a country produces, like cars: the US has an auto industry and you’re giving incentive to consumers to buy American over the expensive tariffed foreign cars. But blanket tariffs that include goods NOT produced by the US is simply an empty headed demagogue doing empty headed things. Oh, and in case it isn’t obvious, he lied about the tariff rates imposed by other countries.
Don’t be surprised if we have a greed-flation scenario again where every company (even American companies) claim that the tariffs are driving up prices on their products too. Just like COVID, where they capitalized on public ignorance.
If you want to do tariffs, fine. But they need to be surgical and well thought out, not just slap a percentage on everything from a specific country (including islands with no humans and only penguins 🙄).
All of this said, understand that this creates very fertile ground for the platform holders to pivot to an all digital future and perhaps even the death of conventional hardware in favour of PC launchers.
