If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.

Monitoring every aspect of your Zoi can be a bit challenging, especially since you might focus too much on their life and forget your own. We don’t want that to happen, right? This is where Autonomy comes in – it allows you to focus on both your life and your Zoi’s life.

Autonomy, Explained

Autonomy, also known as Free Will, refers to when your Zoi acts on its own using AI, and this primarily depends on how you’ve customized your Zoi.

So, depending on the traits and preferences you’ve set, your Zoi will mostly act based on those choices.

For example, if any of your Zoi’s Needs drop low; let’s say your Zoi gets hungry – they will automatically go to the fridge and get something to eat or cook if that’s part of their preferences, and so on.

This autonomy extends beyond just the house; your Zoi will also interact with other people, have conversations, make friends, and more.

The extent of this autonomy also applies when your Zoi is studying or working.

They will complete their tasks automatically, but keep in mind that this doesn’t mean they will always get everything right.

Just like anything else in the game, you can choose to enable or disable Autonomy with just one click.

On the in-game screen, look below where your Zoi’s Needs are, and right next to it, you’ll find the option to turn Autonomy on or off.

Alternatively, you can press T on your keyboard to toggle it on or off for people who like shortcuts.

You may be wondering whether it’s better to keep Autonomy on or off, and there’s no definitive answer – it all depends on your preferences.

If you want full control over your Zoi’s actions, making every decision, conversation, and move, then you should keep Autonomy off.

However, be cautious when Autonomy is off, as you’ll need to monitor every single need of your Zoi and make sure it’s filled. If you overlook things for too long, it could negatively affect your Zoi or even lead to them dying.

On the other hand, if you prefer to let your Zoi make their own decisions and take care of themselves, then you can turn Autonomy on.

Your Autonomy status can be seen by the eye icon above your Zoi’s head:

  • If it’s white, then Autonomy is on.
  • If it’s orange, then Autonomy is off.
