Pathojen is a great beginner Lancer, whose abilities are more supportive than aggressive. This means your team won’t necessarily be expecting you to get finishing kills all the time. So, if you’re new to the genre, or FragPunk, here’s what you need to know to play Pathojen.
How Pathojen’s Abilities Work
Pathojen is one of the only healers available in FragPunk, meaning she’ll often be a key pick when it comes to determining your team composition.
Here’s a breakdown of how her abilities work.
Ability |
Ability Type |
Details |
---|---|---|
Emotional Rescue |
Healing |
Place a healing field on the ground, restoring health to yourself and nearby allies. |
Shroom Wall |
Defensive |
Place a destructible wall, which can be freestanding, or can fill a door or entryway. |
Killer Queen |
Trap |
Place a fungus trap that poisons enemies when activated. |
Chemical Romance |
Passive |
Pathojen is immune to poison damage, making her sturdier than most in combat. |
Ultimately, the most important thing Pathojen offers is healing. Don’t waste this ability; make sure you’re using Emotional Rescue at least once a round.
How To Play Pathojen
Because her abilities are mainly support-based, you’re going to want to play Pathojen more defensively, generally speaking.
That doesn’t mean she’s a pushover by any means, but you’re going to want to prioritize the below actions above all else.
- Always Be Healing – Because healing is rare in FragPunk, Pathojen’s healing ability should be used to its fullest capacity every single round. Don’t hoard it.
- Block Off Paths – By placing fungus walls in key doorways around points or spawns, you can create new chokepoints the enemy will have to play through.
- Play With Your Team – Because Pathojen is a support character, don’t go on solo missions, wasting your valuable abilities on just yourself.
Keep in mind, Pathojen’s walls can easily be destroyed.
This can still help as anyone shooting at the wall will immediately reveal their location to the team, but they’re not indestructible.
How To Play Pathojen On Attack
The above tips demonstrate how to play Pathojen in a general sense, but you are going to want to adjust your strategy based on whether you’re playing attack or defense.
On attack rounds, Pathojen excels in three areas.

---|---|
Fire Traps Around Corners |
Placing fungus traps around corners will create space between you and the enemy team, allowing your team to progress forward. You can also throw the trap forward directly at enemies, using it as a ranged weapon. |
Use Walls For Added Cover |
Corners can be hard to navigate around in FragPunk. Building freestanding walls around them can help your team get a more advantageous angle for taking out enemies. |
Healing While Converting |
Pathojen can either heal herself or an ally while they’re placing the converter. Simply place your Emotional Rescue at their feet, allowing them to regain health while planting the converter. |
How To Play Hollowpoint On Defense
Pathojen is also useful during defense rounds, and probably a better pick overall for defense than offense.
On defense rounds, Pathojen is great for two things.

Creating Chokes |
Thanks to her traps and walls, Pathojen is great for creating new choke points the enemy will have to navigate through. Check your mini-map as you set up your defenses, selecting the best doorways to block off so you can set up chokes to defend. |
Forcing Engagement |
Thanks to her walls and healing abilities, you can force engagement out of attackers. The enemy team will know that you can retreat behind walls and heal up your team, meaning if they want a chance at converting, they enemy team will have to play more aggressively. |
Keep in mind that placing walls will likely alert the enemy to your presence, so if you’re trying to play more stealthy, it might be best to avoid placing walls right away.
