The Best Among Us Mods, Ranked
The modding community, much like people who play the game, are having a field day with Among Us. These mods let you drag bodies, use skins, and more.
That’s no shock, given the slew of board games that have catered to this market for decades now. However, while less are on offer these days, there are still plenty of video games that bring people together to oust the liar among us. Just be warned that these games may affect your friendships.

Gnosia is best described as a single-player version of Among Us. This visual novel follows a survivor of an alien invasion, who is stuck on an escape rocket with 14 other refugees, at least one of whom is an impostor. The catch? The protagonist is trapped in a time loop, and the impostor is someone else with each go around.
Unlike other social deduction games, Gnosia emphasizes the story. Each character has a distinct personality and elaborate backstory, and the mystery of the time loop will keep you glued to the screen. There are even RPG mechanics, such as stats that determine how good you are at spotting lies.

Death Note Killer Within is an online social deduction game based on the hit anime series. Two teams, one made of detectives and one loyal to Kira, must compete to outsmart each other in a battle of wits. As the good guys, your goal is to figure out who on the opposing side has the Death Note. Meanwhile, the bad guys must deduce who among the heroes is L.
Just like the anime, the game is a thrilling chess match as both teams try to unravel the other’s identities. Keep in mind that the Death Note can get passed to other players, which opens up a whole new layer of strategy.

A game where everyone is a potential murderer or a potential victim would be very similar to Among Us, and luckily, that is exactly what Murderous Pursuits is. It’s a kill-or-be-killed environment where you have to lurk and try to blend in while also searching for your target and weapons to use.
Unfortunately, reviews have complained about a lack of an online community, so if you do plan on playing this game, make sure you have a few friends to play with or be prepared to play with bots.

If you are looking for a game with silly, bubbly characters like the crewmates from Among Us, Fall Guys would be a great option. It’s an online battle royale game where you compete with other players.
While you can choose to sabotage other players, the main goal is to win by either completing a few obstacles or being the last one standing. There are multiple game modes available to play as well. The best part, though? Fall Guys is free to download!

You are equipped with ghost-chasing gear such as spirit boxes and EMF readers so you can properly become the ghostbuster you’ve always wanted to be.

You must complete contracts by getting proof of certain ghosts, identifying the specters, and then cleansing the area of all supernatural activity. It sounds pretty simple, but it can be rather scary. Just like Among Us, it can get pretty tense rather quickly.

The 2002 The Thing game got a fresh remastered version to be enjoyed on multiple platforms with revamped graphics. It picks up directly after the events of John Carpenter’s The Thing movie and could be considered the second part.
Among Us was heavily inspired by The Thing during its development.
You play as Captain Blake, who is a part of the rescue team that is supposed to investigate what exactly happened in Outpost 31. Unfortunately, you will have to deal with close encounters with the shapeshifting alien that had attacked the men of the outpost.

The first thing to note about Betrayal.io is that you can play it on your computer browser or phone, so you can try it out for free. It directly references Among Us as one of its inspirations, and you can see it in the gameplay. It works exactly like Among Us, with crewmates, impostors (known as “betrayers” here), the ability to vent, and meetings to smoke out the saboteurs.
Betrayal.io’s art style and tasks are different from Among Us, which gives the game some freshness. Since it’s free and pretty easy to access, trying out Betrayal.io is a good way to figure out whether games like Among Us suit playing with your friends.

Dubbed ‘Amongoose’ by many players, Goose Goose Duck is another game that works quite similarly to Among Us. There’s an extra layer of silliness to it though, seeing as how you play as cartoon ducks and geese with big googly eyes. Still, it doesn’t change the game’s mission: do your tasks and find the duck(s) before all the geese die at their hands or get away with murder as a killer.
It offers a surprisingly large amount of game modes, as well as over 50 roles and a bunch of maps and cosmetics. Needless to say, the replayability of Goose Goose Duck is off the charts, maybe even more so than Among Us.

If you have the itch for a game like Among Us but also crave something a bit different, SpyParty is perfect. Firstly, it’s a game for two people rather than a group, so you’ll have to put effort into blending in so you don’t get caught. One of you plays the spy, while the other is the sniper.
As the spy, you have to hide in plain sight at a cocktail party for the elite while accomplishing different objectives for your mission. As the sniper, you have to figure out which one of the party guests is the spy and put a permanent end to them. It’s one of those games that sounds simple enough, but it’ll likely put your discreetness and perception skills to the test.
SpyParty is still in early access on Steam and has been since 2018. It’s still a complete game that you should be able to play with no issues, but it may change in the future.

Secret Neighbor takes the slasher-esque madman of the last game and puts him into a multiplayer setting. A group of intruders attempt to suss out which one of them is the neighbor in disguise. Enemy on Board’s premise is Among Us verbatim. Two players are alien impostors, and everybody else is a part of the crew who are working towards repairing the spaceship. However, it’s all 3D with a birds-eye-view camera.
The game is currently in early access, but it does have plenty of positive reviews on its Steam page, so it’s safe to say that it’s one of the better murder mystery games out there. It’ll be a familiar romp for those who have played Among Us. One key difference, though, is that the characters aren’t copies of each other. Each one has different abilities to help in your mission, so choose wisely.
Some reviews have complaints of not being able to find public matches at all, so if you plan to play this game, you’ll need to have some friends around for private matches.

Where in games such as Among Us and Enemy on Board, there are two factions at play, Town of Salem boasts three — neutral, town, and mafia. They work in opposition to be the last team standing, but nobody knows who’s who, so the job of the town is to suss out the werewolves, serial killers, and arsonists on top of the mafia as they’re picked off one by one.
The town team also has a variety of roles, from investigator to jailor to vigilante, which means there’s plenty for the bad guys to fake.

There’s a wealth of tests to try and identify these intruders that you partake in. Much like Among Us, it’s all about the last team standing.

Whilst many of the other Among Us alternatives are indie, abstract murder mysteries, Deceit offers something a little bit more traditional with its FPS combat.
Where you are is unknown, but the goal is to escape — you’ll bump into other players who may or may not be infected, and it’s up to you whether to trust them. Gathering the necessary means to break free might mean taking no chances and beating down anyone who gets in your way, so there’s a lot more freedom in your actions.

One of the more popular game modes that have sprouted over the years is Trouble in Terrorist Town. You’re all the bad guys, as you play the role of terrorist, but there are traitors among you who are out for blood. The aim is to suss them out, kill them, and stay alive. But, like Deceit, it’s a no-pause, constantly rolling FPS with a wealth of means to take down foes, all depending on the server. Will the traitor whip out a minigun and take out a crowd or lure you into a room only to lock you in and set off some C4?

Unfortunate Spacemen is yet another entry that’s all about alien impostors taking the form of the crewmates, slowly picking them off one by one as they work to figure out who it is that is lying.
There’s a lot of customization, a story mode, proximity-based voice chat, and ranks, so it’s a lot more complex than Among Us. That means it may not be your first choice if you’re just looking for some casual, fast fun. But if you do have the time and energy to try the game’s features out, you’ll find it’s a solid game that you’ll likely keep coming back to.

With FPS, birds-eye-view isometrics, community-based mods, party games, and chat-based point-and-clickers, the whodunit concept has been stretched to plenty of different genres, so it should come as no surprise that someone decided to make a side-scroller.
You have to fix the submarine with your crew, completing goals to try and survive the harsh, gritty, grunge-filled nightmare you’re embroiled in. But, as you’ll have guessed by now, there’s a traitor with opposing goals. The classes and talents you choose change what’s expected of you in the game. You can ally with other players for more of a chance to survive, but be careful with whom you trust; there are saboteurs on board.

The Escapists is a bit different from Among Us, as the aim isn’t so much as to suss out a traitor to survive in some isolated setting that screams Alien but rather to break out of prison by your lonesome or with some buds.
However, its top-down, goal-based gameplay feels extremely similar to Among Us, with a touch more polish. There’s plenty of choice to be had in the way you break free and lots of retro, classic designs that’ll give you a good touch of nostalgia.
