In the Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remasters, you’ll want to be hopping from location to location, looking for new recruits, collecting stuff to give them, trading food, buying low, selling high… You get the picture! But that’s a little painful to do if you are on foot. Thankfully, there is a little lady named Viki, and she has just the kind of magic you’re looking for.

The Suikoden series was first launched in 1996 in the west and quickly gained a cult following. We take a look at the best games in the series!

Yes, once you recruit this mysterious lady, you’ll be able to zip all around the world to your heart’s content. We’ll let you know what you’ll need to do in order to recruit her to your cause as quickly as possible in both Suikoden 1 and Suikoden 2. This guide will also point you in the direction of Hellion, who is the other half of teleportation magic in the first Suikoden title.

Viki and Hellion in the basement of Toran Castle in the Suikoden 1 HD Remaster.

As we already indicated in the intro, you’ll need to unlock two characters in Suikoden 1 in order to get the full power of fast traveling. We’ll take you through where to snag both Viki and Hellion in the sections below.

Where To Recruit Viki

Viki appearing in the Suikoden 1 HD Remaster.

Whether you are playing Suikoden 1 or Suikoden 2, you’ll need to recruit Viki before you are able to teleport. In Suikoden 1, you’ll encounter Viki on your way to the Great Forest. She’s unmissable, as she’ll appear while you are crossing a bridge. Viki will only provide you with the ability to teleport to locations, not back to your castle. So, you’ll only really have half of the fast travel feature unlocked once you recruit her.

Where To Recruit Hellion And Acquire The Blinking Mirror

After you’ve worked through the section involving the elves and dwarves, and have defeated General Kawanda, the section of the world map that is west of the Castle Toran area will open up. Once you are able to cross the Fortress of Garen bridge, you’ll be able to reach Teien. Once there, head over to the inn, and talk to the lady standing between the two treasure chests: AKA Hellion.

You’ll be able to recruit her simply by asking her to join. Once she leaves for your castle, you’ll be able to open both chests. The chest on the left holds medicine, while the chest on the right contains the Blinking Mirror. You can use that Mirror to return to the castle while on the world map whenever you want.

How To Unlock Fast Travel In Suikoden 2

Running into Viki on the Path to Matilda in Suikoden 2

Things are a little simpler in Suikoden 2 than they were in the first title. Much like in the first game, Viki will join during the course of the game. However, now she’ll hand you the Blinking Mirror as well. Unfortunately, she joins a little later in the game this time around. You won’t be able to acquire Viki until you are on the Path To Matilda, which won’t happen until after you have worked your way through Two Rivers, and completed the Greenhill events. Which is a long way of saying that you won’t recruit Viki until you are a solid chunk of the way through the game.

Just like in the first game, she’ll blink into existence right in front of you. At which point, all you’ll have to do is agree to let her stay in your fortress. You’ll be able to use her Blink magic to fast travel from that point onward. Once she’s been recruited she’ll hand you the Blinking Mirror, and you’ll be good to go!
