In any RPG, there are tons of quests you can undertake, and focusing solely on the main quest isn’t the whole experience. It’s always about those side characters you meet, who take you to different locations, help you explore the world, or even connect you with other characters.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – The Fifth Commandment Quest Walkthrough
Find out who is behind the mysterious killings of young girls in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s Fifth Commandment quest.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 does this and more, as side quests in this game are far more unique in how you interact with them and how you receive them, unlike typical RPGs. The Absolver, for example, lets you help a guy who is jealous of another because he has a better sword, and he wants it for himself.
How To Start The Absolver Quest
After completing the main quest titled Speak of the Devil, head to the Blacksmith, now a Quest Tipster, located on the eastern side of Miskowitz Town.
Speak with him and select the ‘What’s new?‘ option. He will then direct you to the quest giver, Thomas of Kolin, who can be found at Sigismund’s camp in the Kuttenberg region.
Thomas of Kolin doesn’t have a fixed location within the camp, as he moves around, but you can check the map for the New Quest icon to help pinpoint his whereabouts.
Once you locate Thomas of Kolin, talk to him and continue the conversation until he eventually asks you to steal Basan’s sword for him.
How To Find Basan’s Sword
To the east of the map, you’ll find the tournament ring, and just below it, to the left, you’ll spot a white tent with green trim along the top. Inside the tent, there’s a chest.
The chest is locked with a medium lock, so make sure you have lockpicks on hand before attempting to open it. Just be cautious and ensure no one sees you.
Once you pick the lock and open the chest, make sure to grab the Longsword Absolver
and then proceed to the next objective.
How To Forge A Replica Of Basan’s Sword
To begin the forging process, head to the Blacksmith Station, located just west of the camp. First, you’ll need to gather the necessary materials, which are:
-
1
Deer Skin
-
1
Eight-sided Sword Pommel
-
1
Horned Sword Guard
- 2 Frankfurt steel
-
2
Iron
Fortunately, most of these materials can be purchased from the Blacksmith, except for the Deer Skin, which can be bought from the nearby Armorsmith.
Once you have all the materials, start the forging process, which is similar to any sword forging. After completing it, you will receive the Replica of the Longsword Absolver
.
How To Complete The Absolver Quest
With both swords in hand, you now have a few options on what to do with them.
- Return the Absolver to Basan’s chest.
- Place the Replica of the Absolver in Basan’s chest.
- Give the Absolver to Thomas.
- Give Thomas the Replica of the Absolver.
These choices don’t significantly affect the outcome, so it’s really up to you and your preference. As long as you give the sword to Thomas, the Absolver quest will be completed.
As for your reward, you’ll receive around 600 Groschen.
Personally, we decided to place the Replica back in Basan’s chest and gave Thomas the real sword. No one found out, and we managed to please both parties.
