On Pokemon Day 2025, the 29th anniversary of the release of Pokemon Red and Green in Japan, players were informed by in-game messages that they had received a set of three special Genetic Apex booster packs, one for each of the three original packs that players could pull from at the game’s launch. A special message on the in-game news tab states that each of these packs contains at least one card of four diamond rarity or higher, which normally only have a 1.666 percent chance of appearing as the fourth card in a pack and a 6.664 percent chance of appearing as the fifth card. Players can find and claim each of these special packs in the gifts section in the upper-right corner of their screens.
Pokemon TCG Pocket Gives Out Special Genetic Apex Packs for Pokemon Day 2025
The release of these packs comes just before the launch of Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s Triumphant Light expansion, which was announced during the Pokemon Presents 2025 showcase and makes its debut on February 28. The fourth major set of cards released in the game following the Mythical Island mini-set in December and the Space-Time Smackdown set that came out less than a month ago, Triumphant Light seems to be built around a colorless Arceus ex card, with all remaining energy types getting at least one new card with a powerful ability that activates as long as Arceus ex is on the field of play.
As has become normal with the release of a new expansion, the message in the news tab also notes that special missions will be available starting on February 28 at 1 a.m. local time and running through March 27. Rewards will be offered for completion of these missions, and although the development team has not yet specified what they will be, previous events may provide some hints. For example, Space-Time Smackdown missions were each centered around collecting a specific variety of cards from pack pulls, Wonder Picks, and trades. Completing all regular missions in that set would reward players with a total of 36 Wonder Hourglasses, six Shop Tickets, 100 Emblem Tickets, and three icons.
