While flying has seen some significant changes with the release of Dragonflight, ground mounts haven’t changed much since the early days of World of Warcraft. As part of Patch 11.1, there is a unique new ground mount that you can use to get around Undermine at an insanely fast pace. The D.R.I.V.E. system gives you a mount that can not only be customized in appearance, but can also give you choice in whether you have more speed or control over the vehicle. The G-99 Breakneck is unlike any mount that has been added to the game before, and here is how it works.

How to Unlock the G-99 Breakneck in World of Warcraft
You won’t have to wait long to unlock this mount. After you’ve completed Eyes From Above during the second chapter of the campaign, you will unlock a quest that directs you to where you can get a vehicle that uses the D.R.I.V.E system. There will be a brief but optional tutorial that teaches you how to use the G-99 Breakneck. Make sure not to skip it, as the tutorial is helpful for explaining how the mount works.
At the time of writing, the G-99 Breakneck can only be used in Undermine. It is also the only mount that uses the D.R.I.V.E. system at present.
G-99 Controls
Just like with Dragonriding, G-99 Breakneck has a unique bar that comes up when you use it. On this bar you will see the following buttons/keybindings:
- 1: Provides a large boost of speed for a short amount of time. Uses some of the Turbo bar, which is explained below.
- 2: Honks the horn of the G-99.
- 5: Contacts Nanny Talullah whom will give you tasks you can complete
- 6: Dismisses the G-99
With the default keybindings, pressing the ‘W’ key will make you move forward while pressing the ‘S’ key will make you go backward. The space bar is contextual. If you aren’t moving, the space bar will make the G-99 jump. If you hold the space bar while turning, you will drift, which makes it easier to make turns on the tight streets of Undermine.
Above the action bar for the G-99, you will also see the Turbo bar. Every time you use the Boost, it will consume a portion of your Turbo bar. You can fill the Turbo bar by drifting or by picking up Kaja’Cola cans while driving around Undermine.
Take time to get familiar with the controls. Mastering the drift mechanic will make it much easier to get around Undermine. Also, play around with different combinations of parts to see what works best for you. If you are struggling with turns at first, consider swapping to Engine: Controlled Cruiser.
D.R.I.V.E. Customization
While not to the same extent as Dragonriding mounts, the G-99 can be customized. The biggest difference is that the customizations will also change the speed and handling of the G-99 as well. There are five categories of parts that can be customized:
- Paint Job
- Engine
- Wheels
- Turbo
- Horn
Right out of the gate, you have a limited number of parts that you can swap out in the G-99. You will get to choose between two different engines and that is it. Additional parts can be unlocked by killing rare enemies around Undermine, unlocked through achievements, or reaching exalted with one of the Cartels.
