The Captain’s Return is a substory you’ll encounter in Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii‘s East Waikiki section of Honolulu. Here you’ll encounter an oddly familiar-looking gentleman – well, familiar if you played Infinite Wealth. As is always the case, he needs your help.
This is one of those substories that is a breeze if you get the right idea, but a deeply frustrating experience if you don’t catch on. This guide will give you a breakdown of where each piece of trash is located. Ranging from the painfully obvious to the more devious. If you’ve hit a snag, we’ll make sure to clear it for you.
How To Start The Captain’s Return Substory
This substory is available in chapter 2, but it doesn’t unlock until after you have obtained the Chain Hook. Once you do, if you run straight down the section of Resort Blvd. between Hula Ave. and Waikiki St. you’ll encounter the ‘Man in Bandana’ (Fukuyama) picking up trash. You’ll now have the option to start The Captain’s Return substory. To start the substory, talk to Fukuyama and choose the “Begin collecting trash” option. Now, all you need to do is collect the five pieces of trash.

Where To Find The Trash
There are five pieces of trash in total, and once you have started the quest, the map will be largely cut off. You will mainly only have access to Hula Ave and a small portion of Resort Blvd. Though there is no trash on that section of Resort Blvd. You’ll also be able to access a small portion of Seaside Ave.
Piece Of Trash #1
The first piece of trash is directly south of Fukuyama. It is on the southeast corner of the intersection. It is glistening, and there is an arrow pointing to it.
Piece Of Trash #2
Turn right, and head down Hula Ave. The next piece of trash will be on your left, sitting on the corner of the planter.
Piece Of Trash #3
This piece of trash is a little further down the road and on your right. It is tucked behind the red car, which makes it easy to walk straight past it.
Piece Of Trash #4
This next piece of trash is further down Hula Ave. and on your left. It is across from the parking lot.
Piece Of Trash #5
This is likely to be the piece of trash that you’re here for. You may have noticed that Fukuyama said something about the trash being up above. That’s the hint! Head over to the No Surf No Life shop. Turn the corner so that you are facing the entrance. Now, look up and you’ll see a hook. Use your Chain Hook to reach the roof. You’ll find the trash up here (alongside a Silver Container).
The Fight Against The Two Litterers
Once you have picked up the five pieces of garbage, you’ll join Fukuyama in fighting off two litterers. Neither of whom are particularly tough. Once you’ve beaten them, Fukuyama will join your pirate crew under his new moniker: the Dread Pirate Hook.
