Mecha BREAK has surpassed Marvel Rivals this past weekend on Steam as hype grows for the upcoming mech combat game from Amazing Seasun Games.
Mecha BREAK’s Global Storm Open Beta launched on Feb. 23 and quickly skyrocketed to a peak of over 300,000 players on Steam. The beta, listed as the demo on Steam, surged past Marvel Rivals to become the fourth most-played game on Steam.

Mecha BREAK Becomes Fourth Most-played Game on Steam with Beta Launch
The milestone of becoming one of the most-played games on Steam is a good sign for the upcoming release of this unique mech-based combat sim. Hot on the heels of a 23-minute preview video and new beta release trailer, Mecha BREAK welcomed a huge influx of players eager to try the new game.
Mecha BREAK surpassed Marvel Rivals in concurrent players, and briefly in 24 hours peak. And at the time of writing still sits as the fourth most-played game on Steam. The beta also sits at the top of trending games on SteamDB.
However, the surge in players isn’t without some drawbacks. The release was also met by a flood of negative reviews – most criticizing bugs and issues. While this is a beta, and is described as such, many users seem frustrated by the current issues they’re facing.
Earlier this month we reported on the upcoming Mecha BREAK beta, and it seems hundreds of thousands of players are eager to get to grips with this dose of mech combat. The mecha sub-genre is often overlooked, and has seen some hit-and-miss performances in recent years.
Armored Core VI was a smash hit, and a benchmark AAA title. But other mech combat games, including Mechwarrior 5: Clans and Gundam Evolution, have struggled to maintain momentum, with the latter shutting down in 2023, and MW5: Clans not achieving much commercial success.
Still, there’s clearly a market for high-speed, frenetic mech combat, and Mecha BREAK looks to fill that gap.
