Taking to Reddit, a user known as sebebop has showcased a couple of their recent Pokemon-inspired wood carvings. Specifically, the player has shared images of their Bulbasaur and Grimer carvings. Impressively, the Reddit user replicated the looks of the two classic Gen 1 Pokemon. Grimer featured a blob-like body with its arms raised. Conversely, Bulbasaur had its signature plant bulb and a speckled pattern for its skin. In addition, the wood carvings were painted to match the colors of their in-game counterparts.

These new wood carvings from sebebop have been a hit with Pokemon fans, gaining hundreds of upvotes on Reddit. In the comments, users praised the designs and inquired about the design process. According to sebebop, the Bulbasaur was carved out of basswood. In addition, they said dollar store paint was used, with the trick being not to apply too much to the carving. Impressively, no sketches were used to plan out the designs. Instead, they used online images of the respective Pokemon as a reference as they worked on the designs.
Beyond these wood carvings, sebebop revealed some of their current projects, including Torkoal and Zigzagoon designs. Furthermore, this is not the Reddit user’s first attempt at making Pokemon wood art. Their Reddit page features many designs of popular Pokemon, such as Magnemite, Bidoof, and Diglett.
It is worth mentioning that other fans used wood carving as a medium for expressing their fandom. For example, another fan recently showed off a wood carving of Lapras, creating a beautiful version of the Water/Ice-type out of Sapele and Walnut. Hopefully, even more Pokemon will be introduced to the series in the coming months, expanding creative opportunities for artistic fans.
