Fallout 76’s Fasnacht Day Seasonal Event is back again, from February 18 to March 3. During the two weeks where this Seasonal content is active, players can join in on a fan-favorite Public Event in Helvetia every hour for a chance at some of the rare rewards. This year in particular, Fallout 76’s Fasnacht Day 2025 Seasonal Event has been updated yet again with new rewards to earn, including more coveted Glowing Fasnacht masks on top of all the rewards from past years.

Between their limited-time availability and their low drop rates, Fasnacht Day rewards are some of the rarest items in the game. Now that the rewards pool for this Seasonal Event has once again grown, and as Fallout 76’s player base continues to grow, it’s arguably time for a proper trading system. While there has always been a need for this kind of feature in Fallout 76, the Fasnacht Day 2025 Seasonal Event brings the need for this addition to a new extreme.

Even for players who aren’t planning on transforming their character into a Ghoul, Fallout 76’s Season 20 update still has plenty to look forward to.

The Case for a Proper Trading System in Fallout 76

Fallout 76’s Current Trading System is Unsafe

In Fallout 76, players can build vending machines in their CAMPs to list items for sale, but these vending machines only have the option of selling items for Caps. Since some of the rarest items in Fallout 76 have an assigned value that’s worth more than the maximum limit of Caps players can carry, this makes the need for alternative currencies and direct trades necessary. Except, since the trading system in Fallout 76 has loopholes that players can exploit, this creates an environment where players can get scammed out of their valuable items.

New Players Are Naturally Unaware Fallout 76’s Couriers Exist

The community has taken to solving the lack of a safe trading system by hiring Couriers in Fallout 76, a reputation-based network of players who act as third-party mediators for trades, among other services. While these Couriers are admittedly a wholesome display of community, having to rely on other players to safely conduct trades isn’t exactly an ideal alternative for a feature that should arguably be in the game by default.

Players can find and hire Couriers in Fallout 76 via the r/Market76 Subreddit. Here, players can see a Courier’s reputation/history of successful trades, as well as a blacklist of known scammers to avoid.

Since Couriers aren’t an official feature of the game, they’re generally not something that newer players are aware of. Considering that Fallout 76 recently reached peak player numbers, and seemingly continues to grow with each new content update, a sizable portion of the community is likely unaware of Couriers’ existence until after they get scammed out of a valuable trade and turn to Fallout 76’s social media community platforms for solace. With a proper, safe trading system, this could ideally be avoided in the first place.

Fasnacht Day 2025’s New Rare Rewards Highlight the Need for a Safe Trading System

The Fasnacht Day Seasonal Event in Fallout 76 features some of the rarest items in the game, both in terms of their limited-time availability and their individual drop chances. With the rewards pool for the Fasnacht Day Seasonal Event once again getting updated in 2025, not only are there new rewards to earn, but the expanded loot pool makes obtaining the pre-existing rare rewards even harder as well.

Fasnacht Day Glowing Masks, in particular, are overall one of the most valuable items among traders, so now that the Fasnacht Day 2025 Seasonal Event is here from February 18 to March 3, players are seemingly trading more around this time of the year. Given the increase in trading, more scams naturally tend to happen around this time of the year as well. So, while a lack of a proper trading system has been a problem in Fallout 76 since the game’s launch in 2018, both the growing playerbase and the updated Fasnacht Day 2025 rewards pool make this feature needed now more than ever.
