Pro skater seemingly leaks that a new, remastered Tony Hawk game is coming

Sure, we’ve got an all-new Skate game in the works that should be in our hands within the next couple of years, but how good would a fresh Tony Hawk game be? From the Underground series to the timeless Pro Skater games, the most iconic skateboarder of all time has lent his name and expertise to several remarkable titles. The last dose of Tony Hawk goodness we got was the brilliant remaster of Pro Skater 1 + 2 back in 2020, and according to an actual pro skater that appeared in that game, a new Tony Hawk game remaster is on the way.

After the successful launch of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 remasters, there were hopes that Pro Skater 3+4 would get the same treatment. However, after developer Vicarious Visions was absorbed into the Blizzard arm of parent company Activision Blizzard in 2021, those hopes were dashed. Reports also claimed that, prior to its absorption, Vicarious pitched to include 3+4 with the 1+2 remasters to create the ultimate Pro Skater collection, but those plans were apparently scrapped for being too ambitious. However, Hawk himself reignited players’ dreams last year after claiming to be talking to Activision again, and now those missing skateboard game remasters could be revived and just around the corner, judging by remarks made by skateboarder Tyshawn Jones.

Appearing on The Breakfast Club radio show, Jones – who appeared as one of eight new additions to the Pro Skater 1+2 roster when the 2020 remaster was released – appears to have spilled the beans about another Tony Hawk remaster, and Pro Skater 3+4 seem like the logical games to enhance.

After being asked by host Charlamagne about whether Jones may appear in EA’s new Skate game, he replies: “I don’t know, I’m in a new Tony Hawk coming out so that’s cool. They got a new one they’re just remastering so that’s about to come out – I was in the last one.”

Given that he featured in the 1+2 remasters, it feels like enhanced versions of Pro Skater 3+4 are the mysterious upcoming projects mentioned in Jones’ interview, which was spotted by Gematsu. But, you never know, maybe Activision could be skipping ahead to the equally iconic Tony Hawk’s Underground series that came after the Pro Skater tetralogy. While nothing has been confirmed and officially announced by Activision about the future of the Tony Hawk series, Jones’ comments now make it highly likely that 2025 could be the year we get back to perfecting our nollies and benihanas.

Let’s pray for a reveal soon so we can officially add it to our upcoming PC games list. Until then, here are some of our favorite sports games right now.
