Summary

  • Marvel Studios is rumored to possibly cast Tramell Tillman as Kang for a small role in Avengers: Doomsday.
  • Rumors of Kang’s return hint at Marvel Studios wrapping up the villain’s storyline.
  • If Tillman replaces Majors as Kang, he could play a significant part in tying up loose ends.

An Avengers: Doomsday cast rumor claims Marvel Studios may be eyeing a Severance cast member as Jonathan Majors’ Kang replacement. However, there may be a limit to how sizeable this role would be.

Avengers: Doomsday was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, confirming that Marvel Studios had scrapped its plans for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty following its decision to fire Jonathan Majors from the Kang role after the actor was found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of assault and harassment. Rumors suggested Marvel Studios was considering recasting Kang, but the company instead decided to cast Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom to serve as the primary antagonist of Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars. Most assumed Majors’ Kang would never be seen again, but the villain’s story may not be over.

Rumor: New Star Wars Movie Could Suffer a Big Loss to the DCU

A new Star Wars movie could face a serious setback, as an insider claims it could lose someone important to one of James Gunn’s DCU movies.

A recent report claimed Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige was considering bringing back Majors as Kang to resolve the villain’s storyline in a future MCU project. While that report has seemingly been debunked, there may be some truth to it. During the latest episode of John Rocha and Jeff Sneider’s The Hot Mic, Sneider said he’s been told that Marvel Studios plans to “say goodbye to Kang” and wrap up his storyline. This return would be a “small little thing” and Sneider added that he’s heard if Kang returns, Doctor Doom could be the one to kill him. Should Kang return and Marvel Studios can find an actor willing to replace Majors, Sneider said he’s heard that actor could be Severance star Tramell Tillman, who would appear for a single scene as Kang. Sneider advised fans to take this with rumor “grain of salt” but noted that it passed the “smell test.”

Rocha raised the reasonable question of why Tillman would agree to star as Kang for a single scene in which his character is killed. Sneider countered that Tillman might not yet have to clout to demand more from Marvel Studios, adding that if Marvel Studios wants to solve its Kang problem, they’re going to find someone willing to take the role. When the topic of Majors potentially reprising the Kang role was raised, Sneider immediately shot down the idea.

In addition to his role as Seth Milchick in Apple TV Plus’ Severance, Tillman is a member of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning‘s ensemble cast. He’s gained acclaim for his work on Severance and his time on the next Mission: Impossible film has given him experience with big-budget blockbusters, so he’d be a solid choice to play Kang for a limited period. Of course, even if he doesn’t have the clout to demand a larger role from Marvel Studios, he is a rising star who could hold out for a better MCU character. Regardless, rumors of Kang’s return aren’t going away. With Avengers: Doomsday set to start production next month, fans may have a better sense of how Marvel Studios plans to tie up Kang’s loose ends soon.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 1, 2026.
