Grand Theft Auto 6 fans believe Rockstar Games just teased the highly anticipated title with a new promotional image for Red Dead Redemption 2‘s multiplayer component, Red Dead Online. The first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 was released all the way back in December 2023, with no substantial news on the game being shared since. The lack of a second trailer, screenshots, or any real news has sparked some wild theories within the community, but the latest one is hard to deny.
The lack of communication from Rockstar Games has led many fans to believe that a delay is imminent. While that wouldn’t be surprising given Rockstar’s track record with its previous games, the studio’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has insisted that Grand Theft Auto 6 remains on track for its Fall 2025 release window. In a recent quarterly earnings call, the company’s CEO once again reaffirmed its confidence that fans will have Grand Theft Auto 6 in their hands later this year, but did admit that slippage is always possible. The game’s Fall release window means it should launch between late August and December.

Rockstar May Have Just Teased GTA 6 Fans With New Red Dead Image
With each passing day of silence from Rockstar, the Grand Theft Auto 6 theories become wilder and wilder. While it finally looks like the community has given up on the ludicrous moon theory for the game’s second trailer, many fans do believe that Rockstar has just teased the community with a new promotional image for Red Dead Online. In a new blog post on the studio’s website, Rockstar revealed all of the weekly rewards and extra XP up for grabs in Red Dead Online for February 2025. However, toward the end of the post is in image that has a striking similarity to a shot from Grand Theft Auto 6‘s first trailer. The comparison can be seen in the post below, with Reddit user Ryex7 saying the studio “[knows] exactly what they’re doing.”
While it does indeed look like Rockstar has included a not-so-subtle nod to Grand Theft Auto 6 with the image, it doesn’t necessarily indicate any sort of news or trailer is on the way. At the time of writing, it has been well over 400 days since the release of the game’s first trailer, and fans are growing increasingly impatient for a look at Grand Theft Auto 6‘s second trailer. Reddit user RobotMathematician responded to the above post by saying, “I just want something. Make the madness stop.”
Although there hasn’t been any substantial news from Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has discussed Grand Theft Auto 6 on multiple occasions now. In a recent interview, the CEO was asked about whether or not he had concerns over Grand Theft Auto 6 sparking real-world violence, to which he insisted he was “not worried.” Zelnick also reminded the interviewer that the theory around video games causing real-world violence has been “tested and disproved.”
