Picking up right after the events of the first game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 continues the journey of protagonist Henry in 1400s Bohemia. Gone is the clumsy main character we once knew; Henry is now an experienced warrior on a quest for revenge, determined to drive Sigismund out of Hungary. His journey in this game is not about learning the ropes—he’s already capable. Instead, it’s about evolving from a more mature soldier into a badass knight.
Warhorse Studios once again delivers an amazing medieval world that feels as real as it gets. With stunning landscapes to a grounded but exciting narrative, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is an RPG that immerses you like no other.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Review: An Early GOTY Contender
Gameplay and Mechanics
What makes Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 stand out is the freedom it gives players when approaching quests. Every mission feels open-ended, giving you multiple ways to achieve your objective. Take, for example, a simple task of acquiring better clothing for a wedding. You could buy the outfit, craft it yourself, or steal it. In my case, I took a… ‘more aggressive approach’ and eliminated the tailor, claiming his store for myself. This was probably not the best move as I lost some reputation, and guards constantly tried to arrest (or kill) me. But hey, I had some stylish new clothes.
This is just one example of how the choices you make can have significant consequences that ripple throughout the game. One mission involves pillaging a town hiding a traitor. If you choose to help the traitor, you’ll have to fight off your own comrades—who, if left alive, could have played a role in future events. While the overarching story follows a set path, how you navigate it feels entirely unique.
Even though Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 leans toward realism, it never feels like a chore. The depth of the mechanics, from the mini-games to survival elements, makes for a truly immersive experience while still keeping things engaging.
However, I feel that the combat is the weakest part of the game. While it remains similar to the first game, it’s now faster and more brutal and polished. But it’s still not as thrilling as it seems on the surface. Some compare it to the Chivalry franchise, but it’s quite different in reality. But this is a personal preference, maybe you’ll enjoy the combat. That said, this isn’t a game you play solely for the swordplay. There are a lot of things to do here that aren’t slashing people with a sword: Poisoning enemies before a fight even starts, and buffing your allies before a fight to make them massacre your enemies, or sneaking to a house without taking a bath (you’ll get caught cause you stink!). There’s almost no limit on ways play the game.

A Medieval Experience Like No Other
Many reviewers have said this—probably all of them—but let me say it again: The world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is nothing short of breathtaking. Its massive open-world map is filled with historically accurate details of medieval Bohemian life. Riding through dense forests, across vast fields, and along riverbanks never gets old. It’s surreal how much joy can be found in simply exploring and losing yourself in the beauty of the countryside.
While the game’s geography lacks extreme variety—wooded hills and meadows dominate the landscape—that’s exactly what the region looked like in reality. The contrast between small villages and the wilderness adds just enough variation to keep things fresh. My only real complaint: You can’t enter most churches, which feels like a missed opportunity, considering how significant they were in medieval society.
Another standout of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is its phenomenal soundtrack. The music swells at just the right moments—during a heated battle, an emotional story, or just when you’re riding your horse—and it’s cinematic in the best way possible.

Performance
Despite its massive scale, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 runs surprisingly well. Throughout my playthrough, I encountered no major bugs or glitches, which is a refreshing change from what we often expect from large open-world RPGs, especially on release.
I ran the game on a Ryzen 5 2600 and an RTX 4060, and even on this mid-tier setup, I was getting around 70 FPS at 1080p with DLSS 4 enabled. So if your rig is more powerful, you shouldn’t have any trouble running the game at higher settings. Check out our guide to the Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 system requirements for more info.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Review Final Thoughts
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a must-buy. Warhorse Studios has once again delivered an RPG that feels unique in an era dominated by live-service titles.
The game masterfully balances realism and fun, offering countless optional adventures alongside a gripping main story. It’s a game that doesn’t just want you to play—it wants you to live in its world. And trust me, once you step into 1400s Bohemia, you won’t want to leave.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is easily one of the best RPGs of this generation, and it’ll be a long time before I forget the journey it took me on.
