Summary
- Naruto fulfilled his dream as the Seventh Hokage of Konoha.
- Sasuke became the protector in the shadows, known as the Other Hokage.
- Sasuke may have the opportunity to become Hokage, but faces challenges due to his criminal status.
The Naruto series has always seen Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha at the forefront of things. These two are the most iconic, and at the same time, the strongest characters in the story, making them extremely special, to say the least. While the two were seemingly opposites at the beginning of the story, their growth led to them acquiring the same dream at one point. Just like Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke wanted to be the Hokage of the village at the end.

Sasuke could finally regain his Rinnegan in Boruto. This power up could allow him to compete with other characters.
This was a rather surprising turn of events, but one that made complete sense, especially after seeing what Sasuke went through and the knowledge that he gained. Eventually, it was Naruto Uzumaki who became the Seventh Hokage of the village, but Sasuke still maintained his reputation as the Other Hokage. In the Boruto era, Naruto Uzumaki isn’t the Hokage anymore, and Kawaki saw to that. Now, there is an opportunity for Sasuke Uchiha to step up and become the Hokage.
Naruto Uzumaki Became The Seventh Hokage Of Konoha
- Naruto Fulfilled His Dream At The End Of The Original Story
- Sasuke Became The Protector In The Shadows
Naruto Uzumaki was always going to accomplish his dream in the original series and that is why nobody was surprised to see him become the Hokage of the village. If anything, Naruto’s rise to the position of Hokage was somewhat later than what fans had expected. Fans wanted Naruto to become the Hokage Immediately after the war, but instead, Kakashi ended up becoming the Hokage, with Naruto then taking on the position years later, when he had two kids already.
I will become the Hokage! — Sasuke Uchiha
It is a shame that Naruto rising to the position of Hokage was never really a part of the original story, and at the same time, the fact that fans never got to see him live out his dream either. But, at the very least Naruto did become the Hokage and led the village admirably, as seen in the Boruto era. Naruto carries the Will of Fire, meaning he sees the entire Village as his own family, and more than that, recognizes that the next generation is the king whom he must always protect. This is precisely why Naruto Uzumaki was the perfect fit for the position of Hokage, and of course, the superhuman strength to destroy countries only adds to that.
Meanwhile, Sasuke Uchiha played an exciting role in the story as well. After being brought back to the village following the battle against Naruto, Sasuke decided to live out the rest of his days repenting for what he did and using his powers to serve Konoha the way he best could. Sasuke went on a redemption journey across the world and showed everyone how much he had grown once he returned. He assumed the role of the Other Hokage, something that even Naruto Uzumaki has explicitly referred to him as in the story.
Sasuke And Naruto’s Fate And Why Sasuke Will Come Back Before Naruto
Sasuke And Naruto Have Been Cut Out
Both Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto Uzumaki are two of the most skilled fighters in the story, and they maintained this position in Boruto, at least at the beginning. However, with time, both Naruto and Sasuke got considerably weaker compared to the other monsters that existed in the world. Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke were seen in combat against Momoshiki Otsutsuki, and while they did just fine in this battle, they were completely outclassed in the future ones. The fight against Jigen, and later Isshiki was a reality check for them, and this is where things went further south. Naruto Uzumaki was made to lose Kurama by the author is a bizarre decision, while Sasuke Uchiha’s Rinnegan was stabbed as well. With both of them without their powers, it was only a matter of time before they were cut out of the plot entirely, something that fans consider to be an embarrassing move to this day.
That’s right! The Hokage that I speak of is the one who could light the darkness that plagues all the five villages. One that could go through all that and survive. — Sasuke
Towards the end of Boruto Part 1, the curtain fell on the character of Naruto Uzumaki. Although he didn’t die, as many had expected, he was sealed away by his own son, Kawaki. Now, Naruto doesn’t exist in the story anymore, and it is highly likely that he will return anytime soon. When Boruto and Kawaki fight in the prologue of the story, it is clear that Naruto is still sealed, meaning no progress has been made in this regard even in the future.

Minato’s Flying Thunder God is superior to Boruto’s. Here’s why.
But, Sasuke Uchiha’s case is different. Sasuke was not sealed away by Kawaki, and was only turned into a tree by the Claw Grimes, which led to the creation of Hidari, one of the human Shinju. To get Sasuke back, one simply needs to beat Hidari and take the Thorn Soul Bulb, and use it on Sasuke. This is very much a possible goal. In fact, it is likely that this goal will be accomplished soon enough. While the Shinju are difficult to fight, Ikemoto is already setting up their defeat, especially as Konohamaru and his team are taking on Ryu and Matsuri. It is highly likely that they will fall in battle right here, which leaves behind three more Shinju.
Undoubtedly, they’re still very powerful and their threat still exists, but it is clear that the author is taking them down one by one, which means Sasuke Uchiha will most likely return much sooner than Naruto Uzumaki.
Would Sasuke Make A Good Hokage?
Sasuke Would Be The Hokage That Konoha Needs
Sasuke Uchiha becoming the Hokage of the village shouldn’t be surprising to anyone. After all, he’s already been hailed as the Other Hokage, and is the strongest in the whole village. While Shikamaru currently leads, if Sasuke were to return, he would inevitably have to step down. But, there is one major issue about Sasuke Uchiha and that is his status as a criminal. For aiding Boruto Uzumaki, Sasuke is seen as a criminal in the village, but that perception is likely not going to stay for long. Those in Konoha are already starting to piece together the fact that things don’t align, which means that Kawaki’s whole facade could be over soon. If Sasuke is freed around the same time, both he and Boruto Uzumaki could then return to Konoha, with Sasuke then assuming the position of the Hokage temporarily until Naruto returns.
This would make for a very exciting time in the Boruto manga and would most definitely be something that fans would absolutely be delighted to witness in the story. It is only a matter of time before this comes to pass.
Boruto is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of Boruto, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 19, is set to be February 20, 2025.
