Loki’s strength is absolutely immense, and somebody that fans have been warned by Oda to keep an eye on. Although he remains chained, his abilities, including his Devil Fruit powers, have been hyped up quite a bit already, and fans absolutely can’t wait for Oda to reveal the truth behind it all. That said, there are plenty of hints have been dropped in the story already that might tell the fans what kind of ability Loki truly has.
Loki’s Legendary Devil Fruit Power
- Loki Ate A Devil Fruit 14 Years Ago
- Loki’s Powers Are Believed To Be Legendary
It goes without saying that Loki is one of the strongest characters in One Piece. In Elbaf, he’s known as the Accursed Prince, and the people of Elbaf themselves believe that Loki is strong enough to destroy the whole world. Of course, usually, phrases like these are an exaggeration of the power that one wields. But, in the case of Loki, this might actually be true. Loki himself was introduced to the fans in One Piece chapter 1130, where he clearly called himself the Sun God who will go on to destroy the whole world. While it can be said that Loki is simply full of himself, there is more to it than just that. Fans know for a fact that the Giants of Elbaf also believe Loki to be a big threat. According to them, the day Loki is released from his chains could be the day the world gets destroyed, such is his power. On top of that, Loki is undoubtedly said to hold power that only a few can match, and this power seemingly stems from his Devil Fruit ability.
I’m the Sun God who will destroy the whole world. — Loki
According to the tales in Elbaf, Loki went on a rampage 14 years ago and killed about 100 Giants in Aurust Castle. He then fought the Great Warrior Harald, his own father, slew him in combat, and then obtained the legendary Devil Fruit of Elbaf that has been passed down the royal family for centuries, consuming it to gain further power. Loki then set out to the sea and rampaged all around, something that earned him a very high bounty. Loki was given a Special Bounty of 2.6 billion berries immediately, and 6 years ago, it was Red Haired Shanks who ended up coming across Loki, defeating him and bringing him back to Elbaf.

Why Loki’s Power May Be Comparable To The Mother Flame
Loki Could Have The Power Of Ancient Energy
There are many ideas out there about Loki’s Devil Fruit ability, but no clear answer has been provided by Oda just yet. That said, a few things are clear. Loki’s power is said to be legendary, and held in high regard by the Giants of Elbaf. This power can destroy the whole world, in one way or another, and finally, this power links him to Sun God Nika. Whatever power Loki holds has to tick all three of these checkboxes. There are many ideas out there as to what Loki’s ability is. For instance, some ideas suggest Loki has the Fenrir power, and while this would most definitely be very exciting, it is likely not the case because it doesn’t fulfill all the criteria. Loki’s power must check all the boxes and be connected to the Sun God.
This is where a very interesting idea comes in. Loki’s powers might be similar to the Mother Flame. Devil Fruits exist because of the dreams of the people, which means anything that someone wishes for or dreams of can be made into a reality with Devil Fruits. Energy sources have been Devil Fruit powers in the past. For instance, Enel has the lightning or Electricity Logia Devil Fruit and he’s utilized this ability on many occasions through Skypiean. A Wind ability existing shouldn’t be out of the question either. Light is another power source that exists as a Devil Fruit ability, as is fire. Clearly, energy sources can exist as Devil Fruits in One Piece.
There was flame within the earth. Humans became greedy and touched the forbidden sun. — Harley
What is the greatest energy source in One Piece? It is, of course, the recently introduced Mother Flame, the undying flame. This is, in other words, nuclear energy. It is entirely possible that the power that Loki holds at his disposal is nuclear energy itself, making Loki a Mother Flame-human. This checks all three boxes for sure. The first criterion is that this power can easily be considered to be legendary. There is no power more legendary than Mother Flame, or nuclear power, in the One Piece world. The second criterion is that this has to be strong enough to destroy the world, as has been stated in the story on multiple occasions.
Undoubtedly, with nuclear energy, Loki would most definitely be able to destroy the whole world. Finally, this power needs to be connected to the Sun God Nika. With the Mother Flame, Vegapunk’s ultimate goal was to create his own sun. If Loki is that power, or holds a version of it, then it makes sense as to why one would believe with conviction that Loki is the Sun God. This makes even more sense when taking into consideration the fact that the Giants believe that Nika can be either a savior or a destroyer. Clearly, Loki can use his powers for both, if he wants to. It all depends on how he uses it, and this is something that can also be said for the Ancient Weapons of the One Piece world.
Of course, until Oda reveals what truly Loki’s ability is, it is very hard to guess, but it goes without saying that nuclear energy is a very good idea.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1139, is set to be February 9, 2025.
