What Is Moonrise Anime About?
Moonrise is an original net animation, or simply ONA. Despite being announced several years ago, updates regarding the project have been limited. The story is set in the future, where humanity entrusts all important decisions to Sapiential, an AI network. Ultimately, Sapiential’s moon reclamation project causes a great divide among humans.
The goal of the project is to send criminals and other ‘pollutants’ to the moon. The people of the moon are forced to live in poverty, putting them through immeasurable stress. Over time, the impoverished people start to realize that they can change their fate, which leads to the War of Independence.
The main character of the series is an individual named Jack. One day, he ends up losing his family due to an attack by the moon rebels. So, he decides to travel to the moon and investigate the activities of the rebels. To his surprise, he ends up learning that his best friend has switched sides.
Moonrise Anime’s Staff Has Been Revealed
As previously stated, Moonrise is being produced by Wit Studio, which has been responsible for animating several top-notch shows, including:
- Attack on Titan
- Spy x Family
- The Ancient Magus’ Bride
- Vinland Saga
Masashi Koizuka is directing the anime, while Tow Ubukata is writing the script. Hiromu Arakawa is handling the character designs, while Ryou Kawasaki is composing music for the series.
Considering the talent at Wit Studio, it seems odd that Moonrise has been delayed indefinitely. However, Wit Studio is working on several projects, one of which is The One Piece. It is the remake of the original One Piece anime that was announced in 2023. The One Piece is going to be the studio’s biggest project to date.
